Food For Thought?
Hi all,
Sorry I have not checked in sooner. I was taking a few mental health days from reality. But I am one of the new mods with a specific responsibility for Creative Writing. I won't give you the speech about "Me Mod, You Listen." Mainly because in my time here and in SpaceBattles, I've only ever seen TWO cases where someone got out of line in CrW. I think in most cases a kind word and a clearing of the throat will usually do wonders in such cases.
That said, my main remit around here is to well, get more people and more stories here! I get it, we're a collection of Conservative-leaning Sci-Fi, Alternative History, and Fantasy Geeks, but comeon, we've got to have more creative folks out there! I am going to solicit ideas on what people would want to see and ideas of my own. Some ideas I have been mulling over are:
1. A Writing Contest - Yes, I've been doing those elsewhere and they are wildly popular.
2. Writing Workshops - Not all of us have well, the courage to submit, or just want to learn something new?
I admit, I'd also like to have a place where we can put beta readers and small-scale publishers in touch with interested parties? Look, I am lucky, I've been published in a few places, nothing big (trust me), but I'd like to make a big break, and I'd like to help others make ANY break at all. So let's discuss?
