I Don’t Wanna Be Famous

A Total Drama SI story

Disclaimer: Total Drama belongs to Fresh TV Inc. I’m simply borrowing it to tell some stories.

Author’s Notes: Time for the paintball deer hunt! I’m happy with most of it, but I kinda feel like the Gwen scene was a bit stilted and halfhearted. What do you think? Does it feel stilted and kinda out-of-nowhere, or does it flow reasonably well, given the characters’ personalities?
Hmm, I think the scene flowed reasonably well.

I'm mildly surprised nobody else commented on Chris being afraid to give Jason a rifle after Boney Island. None of them actually saw what happened there (save Duncan) so I'd think the rest of them would be curious as to exactly what went down there.

Also a shame we didn't get to see Eva in action but with the perspectives involved that would be difficult.

Oh, yeah? Maybe I'm just overthinking things, then.

Yeah, I considered adding something about that, but I couldn't think of anything that wouldn't break up the flow of the scene, so... Eh. I might add something about it in a later chapter, or even go back and re-write that one scene if I think of something fitting.

Pretty much. Mind you, I could have added a scene from Eva's perspective, but the chapter was getting long as it was. Same with Owen; I considered adding more chase scenes with him and Jason, but the chapter was already over 6k words, so... Yeah.

Ah Jason wood walking paying off for him. Wasn't sure if it would but glad he remembered. Jason learned that Heather had a alliance with Lindsay and Beth(well Beth is gone but Lindsay still in). Jason plan was great. Lindsay and Beth most likely not Jason fans. Owen is pretty forgiving but not completely sure. On the bright side Chris really likes Jason so could get benefits from this.

Ah Heather. Seeing Jason's shadow everywhere and it's great. Thinking he stopped Beth from joining back(plus Beth being extra angry today probably made it official that Beth isn't gonna take Heather's commands laying down). Thinking Leshawna was bribed by Jason from being shot(which got Leshawna in part voted off). Gwen getting better means Heather starting to get suspicious(from being miserable to happy).

Now for the moment. Gwen's scene. Personally I think it was good and simple but can see why some doubt was there because of the simple part. I'd say don't worry about it was good. Gwen is now getting a little better from some kindness(some kindness can go a long way). As for what changes Gwen might have, I'd guess her putting more value in who she sees as a friend and those she trusts.

Weird turn for me but here is Beth. Probably very much against Heather now so curious if she will try to reveal certain things and try to get rid of Heather. Like will she try to get votes so it can happen? Beth isn't the smartest but she has her moments and knows who exactly she is going against.

Yes, the power of repetition strikes again! Or something. Yeah, Lindsay and Beth didn't really appreciate getting stuck in a bog, nor getting ridiculed. Owen is more forgiving and, I imagine, is likely to get the Looney Tunes references and understand it was all (mostly) in jest and just part of the challenge. Leshawna maybe not, but Heather got her voted off for shooting her, so... And yes, Chris is definitely enjoying Jason's shenanigans.

Heather is likely going to get more and more paranoid as time goes on. It'll be interesting to see how she reacts once the teams merge, that's for sure.

Yeah, I was mostly concerned about whether I made the interaction between Gwen and Jason flow in a way that wasn't stilted or unbelievable, given their characters and few past interactions. Her mood should at least start to improve a bit, though, as could be seen in the confessional.

Yeah, she's firmly against Heather, here, much like what was happening in canon; Jason interrupting when he did didn't really make things worse between the girls than they were in canon, honestly. Well, except for Lindsay not getting to see Heather and Beth go at it beyond the verbal fight this time around.

Good stuff! Beyond echoing Chris's praise that Jason made Bugs proud, I don't have much to say.

The ending bit with Gwen was fine. Simple works great in the Confessional format. I enjoyed the chapter.

Thanks! Words don't always have to be long and eloquent to get a message across :)

Oh, I was more referring to the scene between her and Jason in the woods. The confessional I was actually fairly happy with, all things considered.

Jason might have made a few enemies this episode. That might come back to bite him when the teams merge.

Yeah, Owen is likely to be both understanding and forgiving, but Lindsay and Beth? They definitely have a few bones to pick with Jason at this point. We'll see what happens with that in the future.

I'm mildly surprised nobody else commented on Chris being afraid to give Jason a rifle after Boney Island. None of them actually saw what happened there (save Duncan) so I'd think the rest of them would be curious as to exactly what went down there.

Yeah, having slept on it, I went back and added a few lines to the challenge explanation scene to (hopefully) make things more believable.

Yeah Beth was in rage mode, Lindsay wasn't really a Jason fan to begin with but this basically put her in the not like category, Leshawna annoyed by not finding anyone for a long time and the Heather argument(Jason basically added fuel to the fire), then Owen is pretty forgiving and can easily find things funny later.

And Heather being paranoid will be beautiful. Heather's planning could be effected by this.

The interaction made sense. Gwen was pretty down and they don't have much interaction(can only think about the first episode with the cockroach). Maybe when they are looking for the diary they talk about their interests like Gwen liking art(or it drawing can't exactly remember) and Jason's liking to write down quotes? Throw in them making jokes or better yet scary movies?

Oh not talking about the relationship of Heather and Beth. More Jason's actions making Beth take more actions in the game. Then there is Beth knowing who Heather really is (with Heather having a better reputation here at this point) so maybe Beth starts taking the initiative? Like would Beth know about Gwen's diary or make a better guess that Heather took it?

Actually thinking about the vote here. Leshawna got voted off. Heather, Lindsay, Justin and Owen(cake and probably just happy it isn't him) voted Leshawna. Heather probably got votes from Leshawna from their fight, Beth being done with her and Gwen from Leshawna asking her(also helps she doesn't like Heather). One would think Trent would go along with the Heather vote but then I remembered Heather helping Trent from the quicksand. So Trent probably just voted for anyone else besides Leshawna and Heather.

Yeah, pretty much.

Oh, it will. Not sure if it'll show up in the next chapter, but we'll see.

Okay, good. I was kinda iffy on whether I made it believable or not. And they will interact more in later chapters.

Oh, I see. Beth is indeed likely to start being a bit more proactive from this point on... whether it leads to much of anything remains to be seen, though.

Something like that; even with Lindsay, Justin and Owen voting with her, Heather likely ended up with the second-most votes this time around after Leshawna. Her position may be a little more precarious for a bit unless she can mend things with Beth (fat chance of that, but we'll see).

Leshawna might be mad at Jason at the moment but maybe a few days at the hotel of losers will calm her down and seeing Jason helping Gwen out.

Heather is in kinda in a pickle at this time. Beth leaving the alliance, Owen possibly still a spy for Jason(HAHA), and Jason's 'Ace' in the hole Gwen once Heather finds out Jason is helping Gwen be more calm(good old misunderstandings). If Trent joins in Heather would be outnumbered on the Gophers. So Heather might have to focus on securing the Gophers(all part of Jason's plan of course. XD).

Don't worry the Gwen scenes were good. Obviously looking for the diary. Curious how far they'll be willing to look for it. Like will they start going through people's stuff and look under people's mattresses? Where has Gwen looked exactly?

Kinda hope Beth actions do something intentionally or unintentionally. Maybe Beth will try to get close to Gwen from them both not liking Heather? For why Beth would start being more active from Jason's actions. I'd say from not being able to get any on her anger out on Heather or Jason, Beth will want to do just that(Heather probably first because from just hating her more and them being on the same team so more contact).

Yeah good luck with that Heather. No way Beth is going back(Heather wants a minion which is what caused this). Trent was probably in a difficult spot for that vote with it both Heather(her helping him) and Leshawna(being Gwen's best friend on the island) on the line. So basically decided to vote for neither of them. Which got Leshawna voted off. Curious what Gwen thinks of Trents vote(him not picking a side getting Leshawna voted off) or thinking he voted for Leshawna? Pretty confident Leshwana and Heather weren't quiet on who they wanted gone so Trent basically knew what was going on to some degree.

Maybe.

Exactly. All according to plan...

That's something that'll come up in future chapters - probably either the next or the one after that.

Yeah, Beth has a lot of frustration built up both from her time acting as Heather's stooge and then getting the Bugs Bunny treatment from Jason.

Yep, I also envision that Heather and Leshawna were very vocal about wanting each other voted off, which likely polarized (most of) the team into voting for either one or the other. Not gonna spoil anything about Trent and Gwen, though... that's for future chapters.

All according to plan. Jason making sure the enemy team is mostly against each other, have a few on the other team think greatly of him, secure his place on his team and have a majority of the players on his side so he can control the votes in the present and later in game. Jason is truly a master plotter!! XD

Looking forward to Gwen and Jason interactions and searching for the diary.

The vote was very much "You with me or against me?" type of thing. Just happens Leshwana didn't have enough support, Heather did and Trent most likely didn't pick a side because conflict of interest. On the down side Leshwana was one of the Gophers better players in challenges.

Now that Jason knows that Heather and Lindsay are in a alliance he finally knows why Lindsay is still in the game even though she stinks in challenges. Will this make him start thinking about the importance of player votes and who is with who? Hmm Jason at some point just gonna mention the alliance in front of everyone(another plot!!)? People knowing means if people want Heather or Lindsay gone they know they need votes to get them out.

Honestly I have trouble seeing Heather make it more than another elimination or two. She's got an enemy on her own team in Beth and in the OTL she barely survived this challenge only due to convincing everybody else Cody was injured and thus a liability.

I do wonder if the cursed idol and the hunt for the diary are going to cross some wires, it seems likely to me that with Jason adding his talents to the search, either he or Gwen will happen upon the idol quickly.

Heather has a chance of making it. For it to happen she needs to get rid of people like Beth along with Owen and have the majority of the votes on her team. With Gwen and Trent not talking that makes it difficult to go against Heather . Trent is kinda hesitant to vote Heather because of helping him with the quicksand and her having a better reputation at this time than canon(if she actually read the diary she most likely be gone right now).

For them finding the idol? I kinda doubt it because it seems like Beth likes to keep it with her as a good luck charm. Sorta like a rabbits foot or a four leaf clover. Maybe Gwen and Jason will 'accidentally' find Gwen's diary with Beth stuff(curse and Heather trying to get rid of her)?

Yes, everything is going exactly as planned... there is no happenstance or coincidence here... it's all been preordained... *cough*

Me too. Now that I've had time to mull things over, I've got some plans for that in the next chapter. Hell, I've even thought out how it's going to be found... though I'm not yet 100% decided on when it'll happen.

Yes to everything.

Oh, yeah. That had been bugging him for some time, so finally finding out that she, Heather and up until recently Beth were all in an alliance connected more than a few dots in his head. He will definitely take action.

Yeah, I haven't re-watched far enough ahead (hell, I still haven't watched episode 10!) to see it exactly, but I vaguely recall there being an episode or two where I thought "how the hell did she not get voted off??" and frankly, I couldn't find a reason except the writers wanted to keep her in. And for good reason, given how much she mattered to the plot later on, but they could have done a better job of justifying it in-story, in my opinion. As for how long she'll last in this story, I have no idea, since I try to take things one episode at a time. It will definitely get trickier and trickier for her, though, as she focuses more attention on Jason rather than her own team.

Oh, they will. As I mentioned above, I will add some stuff with the diary search in the next chapter, and there is even a chance (if slim) that the diary will end up being found quickly... the latter involving Beth's "lucky charm".

Yeah, it's important to remember Heather is less hated in this story, due to not having used the diary to get at Gwen back during the talent contest. Right now her position is precarious, though, due to Gwen actively disliking her and Beth outright hating her. If Heather hadn't managed to get Leshawna voted off she would almost certainly have gotten voted off herself either in the last chapter or the next time they fail a challenge.

Yeah, most of the canon scenes with Beth and the idol seem to imply she carries it around with her in her pocket (somehow... I'll just chalk it up to cartoon physics. Either that or she's got magic pants) rather than just leaving it in the cabin or anywhere else. But yes, finding the diary will involve Beth's curse, but I won't mention any details at this juncture. It will likely happen in either chapter 10 or 11, though, or at the absolute latest in chapter 12.

Oh, I see. That bit completely slipped my mind because I didn't see how anyone would have a problem with it. So there we go!

Good stuff.
Hey, if that's how you saw it, then that just means I was worrying for nothing, as I am wont to do.

Thanks!

Oh that sounds very interesting. Depending on when and where they find it will have interesting effects.

Up until now Jason been pretty easy going with the game. More focused on challenges and if they lose maybe make a suggestion to the team on who should go. Hasn't actually used the influence he has built since he started playing. Now he's starting to realize even the weak players can be threats if they can convince enough people or make deals. At this point being a strong player is a positive because teams but once its everyone for themselves? Being strong is gonna put a target on your back.

Some episodes it is surprising on how Heather is still in. I usually try to find reasons why and sometimes they make sense? Very much depends on the episode. Ah yes Jason's plan to distract Heather with himself so her team will suprise vote her off!! XD

Oh, they will. As I mentioned above, I will add some stuff with the diary search in the next chapter, and there is even a chance (if slim) that the diary will end up being found quickly... the latter involving Beth's "lucky charm".

Yeah Heather was and still is in a tight spot. Luckily for her she bought herself some time to think. Leshawna was Heather's biggest threat on the team. With Leshawna gone that leaves Gwen, Beth and maybe weirdly enough Justin if started getting some ambitious ideas.

Saw the next episode and I got to say....things aren't looking good for the Gophers. Especially with the way they are right now.

Heather is starting to get paranoid of Jason so if she saw Jason and Owen talking(maybe even joking around or helping Owen from the bee stings. Poor Owen.) and then later Owen eating the ribs.....Yeah she'll think either Jason convinced him or made a comment that tempted him. If this does happen Heather might just be angry enough to vote Owen off. And it did seem like Owen didn't really eat anything until the ribs. Then there is the possibility that Heather watching Jason could effect the food being made.

Then we got Beth. Who will just be difficult for Heather and maybe even do something to Heather. Apparently the first dish was a nine out of ten(somehow). With Justin helping not sure(don't think he can cook at least not that well. All up to you really).

Owen and Trent were on ribs. Honestly they looked very good(got a two from just a little bit). Mostly put that on Owen possible cooking skills. Then there was Trent getting knocked out by Owen throwing a crate of oranges at him(Trent could vote Owen for that).

Gwen and Lindsay on the cake thing. Honestly I blame this not working on Lindsay and Heather. Lindsay because Lindsay. Heather because if she knew the recipe right than there shouldn't of been a problem with it and can see Heather being more focused on Jason.

Now let's look at the Bass team. Apparently the first and second dish got in total fifteen points so my guess is the first dish got seven while the second dish got a eight. Not sure how good Eva and Jason are at cooking so could go either way on gaining or losing points. DJ apparently can make pasta sauce so can see him helping with that. Hmmm is Geoff gonna try impressing Bridgette with this meal(weirdly seeing a picture of her at the table)?

Assuming all the placements are canon related and the new scenes added to this episode like Gwen and Jason. Whatever Beth decides to do. If Jason joins in the Harold pranking or not. Then the scenes I can't think about. Maybe Eva and Justin effecting things.

Do have a question. What would you do if a vote goes to a tie? For example if Leshawna and Heather only had three votes each while Owen and Trent didn't vote for them would you make them do a revote while only able to vote for the people who tied or something like a challenge? Maybe both? Like if the revote is a tie again then a challenge?

JasonSanjo

Your Overlord and Jester
Not sure. Some sort of tiebreaker mini-challenge, maybe? Either that or a re-vote where people can only vote for the ones who were tied.
