Using antivirals like this on extremely sick patients is useless. By the time they start therapy, the viral response phase is over and the host hyper-inflammation has begun.
Antivirals need to be given before the over-response portion of the disease course. That means early detection and diagnosis is necessary. After that midpoint up there, they literally need to start dosing patients with insane amounts of heparin and steroids to keep them alive.
