Some of the oldest skeletons were taken by local archaeological department, can't know whose ancestors those were though. They also have skeletons from older eras.

"[A]s currently planned, this initiative will eliminate ALL math acceleration prior to 11th grade," he said. "That is not an exaggeration, nor does there appear to be any discretion in how local districts implement this. All 6th graders will take Foundational Concepts 6. All 7th graders will take Foundational Concepts 7. All 10th graders will take Essential Concepts 10. Only in 11th and 12th grade is there any opportunity for choice in higher math courses."

Seems to be part of an overhaul to replace the classic Junior and High and Early High School classes of Algebra I, II and Geometry with a more diverse and equitable mathematics program based on concepts including included data analysis, mathematical modeling, functions and algebra, spatial reasoning and probability instead of the strong focus on algebraic mathematics.

As Virginia Department of Education spokesman Charles Pyle States:

"For many years, parents and the system have valued and rewarded speed via acceleration and 'covering content' rather than depth of understanding. The Virginia Mathematics Pathway Initiative shifts to a focus on and value for deeper learning through differentiated instruction on grade level that will promote student development of critical thinking, authentic application and problem solving skills."

That won't work. We learn things in a specific order for a reason. Algebra is needed to understand higher concepts of math.

Useful quotes:

“We keep forgetting that directly talking about race is a waste of our breath,” Khilanani continued. “We are asking a demented, violent predator who thinks that they are a saint or a superhero to accept responsibility. It ain’t gonna happen.

“addressing racism assumes that white people can see and process what we are talking about. They can’t,” she said. “That’s why they sound demented. They don’t even know they have a mask on. White people think it’s their actual face. We need to get to know the mask.”

“When I’m breaking this down psychologically, what they’re saying on some level is like, ‘We need things to be the same. If you can say “white,” we can say “Asian. Psychologically, they’re actually making a false equivalence,” she said. “What they’re doing psychologically is obliterating the difference between white and Asian,

Jesus fucking Christ, and this woman has the capability of fucking with someone's head when she should be someone who is trusted to help them!

She should have her license stripped and be banned from the medical field as a whole.

Unfortunately, because she's Black, they'll not do anything. I guarantee you if she were White and she said this about "popping a cap into a Blackie", she'd be booted out on her ass so fast she'd have a broken tailbone.

because she's Black,

Wait what.

She doesn't look black at all, not even a little. I would've guessed Middle Eastern, probably would've gone with Iranian, based on appearance.

I highly doubt any genetic test would have any African ancestry in the top 3 results - just based on her face and skin tone I'm quite sure her actual ancestry is mostly European and Arabian.

Yeah, that was a massive fail on my part -- I looked at a different photo and something in my brain equated her with the photo I was seeing when I looked at the story.

Still, the fact that's where my brain went automatically shows how much this sort of thing is expected/common it is now.

Also, Iranian? Yeah, I can see that?

This thread makes me so glad that I was a college student circa y2k. The worst I had to deal with was a Business Professor thinking 15 weeks of watching foreign commertials was suitable material for an International Business Class and an Art Professor who had never heard of Anime.

The irony of college is the people supposedly teaching students are SME’s in their fields but have no idea how to teach/ instruct people. They have no motivation/ incentive to teach so you can learn. Why should they it is not related to their pay, they are more interested in their own research, books and papers etc.
The people paid to instruct have never been instructed in the various forms/theories of pedagogy. Which is worse when the class is handed off to a grad student, who lacks even the experience that comes by doing it.

Besides the mean grade for college classes has gone from C’s to A’s in American colleges. There was a time C was an average passing grade, above that and it showed you did better than average work.

New Jersey School has decided there are no non-offensive words left anymore so they stripped all the holidays from the school calendar and labeled some "Day Off" instead.

Update on post #148, the crazy lady psychiatrist who said she just wanted to empty a revolver into the nearest white person's head.

Apparently, she just wanted to use negative emotions to start a conversation, and also the fact that people are concerned about her "murder all white people" fantasies and consider that a potential problem is racist.

“Something is emotionally dangerous about opening up a conversation about race,” Khilanani wrote in an email. “No one wants to look at their actions or face their own negative feelings about what they are doing. The best way to control the narrative is to focus on me, and make me the problem, which is what I stated occurs in the dynamic of racism.”

Yeonmi Park fled North Korea with her Mother when she was 13. The two of them were sold to sex traffickers for a few hundred bucks, aided in their rescue by Christian missionaries and had to cross part of the Gobi Desert to make their way first to Mongolia... Then to South Korea where she later wrote a book about her experiences.

Now she's entered Colombia University and between being censured for her pronouns (English is her third language, pronouns are tricky) being shamed for liking classical literature by Professors and seeing Maoist red flags everywhere, among many other things, she decided to share a bit of her reaction to such nonsense.

When someone who has lived under one of the most brutal communist regimes in the world says America's Libtards are of the same cloth as the jackbooted thugs back "home", you know that's when you need to have a "Klaus, are we the baddies?" moment.

Unfortunately, Democrats and Libtards are gonna be Democrats and Libtards.

If she'd moved to some place where racism runs rampant and Confederate flags are routinely on display her commentary about Republicans and Rightwingnuts might be awfully similar.

The extremes on both sides of the political spectrum can be equally intolerant of those who don't fit their ideal.
