Pride without assuming responsibility isn't pride, it's parasitism. That's why companies like it, they can package and sell you your historical achievements while at the same time negating any of the meaning behind it. You can be proud when you have made your very best effort to try and leave something worth being proud of to your children; if you haven't then stop metaphorically wanking yourself off for an entire month.
