Halo Halo TV Series Coming to Paramount Plus

For some reason, Paramount is so creative they couldn't even bother to change up their name enough and just copied Disney Plus. I wonder if they'll be removing CBS All Access or expect the sheeple to pay twice for the most substandard of the substandard streaming services out there. This has already been touched upon in the Disney Plus thread of course, but eventually, people may have to explore other media alternatives to get their pop culture fix.

I wouldn't suggest anything though. BTW did you know some of the Jackals in the Halo series were also part time pirates?

I was under the impression that the vast majority of jackals operating within the Covenant did so through mercenary and privateer contracts.

“It delivers the visceral excitement of playing the game, along with a much deeper emotional experience around the Spartans, human beings who got their humanity chemically and genetically altered,” explained David Nevins, CBS’ Chairman, CEO, and Chief Creative Officer of Showtime Networks. “The story is about reclaiming what makes them human, and therefore it’s a very powerful story.”

They won't be doing much reclaiming in the middle of the Human-Covenant War, especially given that the overwhelming majority of them die well before the conflict ever reaches (hah) its conclusion. So few survived that ONI created literal suicide soldiers out of orphans to function as a strategic replacement, who were also reduced to meager handful. The only notable population of spartans left are the IVs who were volunteers and were deployed after the war ended.

Why don't we get a show about how royally fucked up ONI is with its track record of self-sabotage during an existential war, bioweapons to target specific species, instigating civil unrest - domestic and foreign, and manipulation of the general public before, during, and after said war? Or might that be too topical?

It's impressive how bad they look from a meta perspective given their only other competition was a death cult in the trappings of a theocratic empire. At the very least the Covenant had the excuse of being outright delusional and misinformed.[/QUOTE]

I learned there's a Halo TV series, AND that Paramount isn't under the smotheringly-close loving embrace of the Mouse...And has their own streaming service.

So, like...One thing to be skeptical of, one thing that's kind of good, and one thing of frustration, respectively. But at least I'm learning, I suppose.

On the show itself...Suppose they're trying to vaguely coincide it with the new game being released sometime? Number...Five or six, I think it is (I have not played a Halo game since 3, or maybe...ODST? Which one of those came first?)? But it feels very late nonetheless--seems like a good bit of the enthusiasm on the video game front has waned because of unremarkable/bad(?) outings by the 343 industries folks.

Vaguely curious to see what is done with it. But don't see myself jumping into a streaming service for it (or anything), and I'm suspicious of it going poorly just because there seems to be long record of that in any sci-fi and/or video-game outing (on the bright side, I suppose, at least Uwe Bolle isn't directing. So that's something!)
