So then, lets go!

"Bush has won the election!" -CNN Reporter

In the Presidential Election of 2000, many things occured, of which saw the election of President Al Gore. In an election that saw a turn out of a third party, Gore crawled his way to victory in an election that looked as if he would lose, but won after a few final votes went in for third parties. of which are seen on the map below.

As you can see, Bush won the most states, but due to Monroe, a rather unknown candidate until the election, he lost by a great margin. If it were not for five hundred votes in California, Bush would have won the 2000 election. It is unknown where life under bush would have been for better or worse, but the political theorist believe this to be the deciding factor of the last two decades...

He road the Martian Worm... besides that joke, as much as I love when someone from Tennessee becomes president, and as nice a guy as Gore is, he is the most boring ass rag I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. It's like sprite, but you've taken the carbonation out of it.

He might be boring but at least he's very smart! :)

Anyway, somewhat off-topic question: What do you think that the odds of Gore running again in 2004 would have been without either 9/11 or a similar terrorist attack occurring?

Rather decent. But after 2004? Zero to none, he started having problems with his wife at that point, so that would take priority.

Yeah, any realistic chance for a Gore comeback would likely have to take place in 2004.
I mean, we'd likely see the first person to be divorced in office, so even more history would be mettled. Personally I see that Al Gore being in office would be better for the Republican party. Without a certain moron breaking the knife on Iran's throat, the Republican party would likely be reigning through much of the 2010's.

Al Gore only separated from his wife in 2010 whereas he might lose reelection in 2008 in this scenario. And I could actually see a Democratic comeback in 2012 if the Republicans screw up with the recovery from the Great Recession, such as by implementing austerity or whatever.

I highly doubt he would lose the 2008 Election. Not only that, but the strain of being President would tear his marriage apart even faster than it did in our timeline. More than likely he would be able to keep the presidency.

Will the 2008 financial crisis and Great Recession not occur in this TL?
