It seems we need to go Charter education all the way. I wonder how we can arrange for higher education at the community level? Because, I figure if a university was run by the community, it would likely be immunized against the insanity, as long as the community isn't insane. Though, this is just me applying something I already believe in to a new idea- that is community run universities to charter education. And in general I am spitballing something, if these institutions aren't going to do their job, then they need to be replaced and it occurs to me, probably due to my beliefs, that the best way to do so would be at the communities.

The views we express on social media should reflect the values and beliefs we uphold as followers of Christ.

Well Eric Bruntmyer, those beliefs seem to be that the BLM movement is immune to criticism; where exactly is that written in the bible? For that matter, what exactly are Hardin Simmons University's "Christian values"; because it seems to me those "values" have more to do with politics than any religious beliefs.

This is a private, Christian college mind you; they're usually touted as being somehow immune to the far-left insanity that has infected much of academia. I'm not seeing that here.

It's a simple matter of proximity; the elk statue is located across the street from the Portland Justice Center (i.e. the police headquarters and jail), which has been the focal point for most of the protests. If you're going to set a big public bonfire in that area, the statue and its concrete plinth are more or less a natural spot for doing so.

Do note that per the City of Portland, the statue itself isn't actually damaged; it's the concrete base that has been compromised by the fire and can't be trusted to support the weight of the statue. They haven't explicitly stated that they intend to replace the statue after this is all over, but that's clearly the intent and the actual statue is not controversial at all.
