I’d have advocated far more effective and quick measures. It’s a start suppose.

Well, Florida has decided to bring the boot down:

A guy on ARFCOM who has ties to law enforcement says the news didn't get/didn't report on these tidbits of the proposed law:
Is it just me or does COVID Law Act sound like a quasi abbreviation for that? If they dropped the Looting bit it could ? Anyone else got fun ones?

Tiamat

I've seen the future...
And it gets even better. Barr and the DOJ were not at all amused by their treatment by Jerry "Jabba the Hutt" Nadler and his cronies a month ago at the so-called "hearing" on the riots which rapidly devolved into a screaming fest with the phrases "peaceful protests" and "reclaiming my time" never getting used so often before as they were then:

So Barr and the DOJ responded thusly when Nadler demanded testimony from senior officials.

In other words: "Since you lovebirds wanna waste our time by reclaiming your time, why don't you all have a collective buttfuck? And here's a reach-around."

I was quoting one of my favorite shows. Bonus points if you can name who it was lol.
Babylon 5, said by Londo Mollari. I believe that it was the season 1 episode with the runaway Centuri couple who wanted to get married despite their houses protests.

It's also the episode that has one of my favorite Babylon 5 quotes:
LONDO: ...My shoes are too tight.

VIR: ...Excuse me?

LONDO: Something my father said. He was... Old, very old at the time. I went into his room, and he was sitting, alone in the dark, crying. So I asked him what was wrong, and he said, "My shoes are too tight. But it doesn't matter, because I have forgotten how to dance." I never understood what that meant until now. My shoes are too tight, and I have forgotten how to dance.

VIR: ...I don't understand.

LONDO: (Smiling wistfully) Nor should you.

From what I can tell, their basically subcontracting out crime prevention to criminals.

The dude says he was a gang banger, but he also speaks the language of dismantling oppression and shit, so the city is paying him to deal with crime.

He’s basically a go between of the government and the “gang bangers”.

(A term he actually used).

Sounding just like Kelly Turnbull, one of the main antagonists a highschool-loser turned College Professor turned politician/head of security/still a "professor" who started off his career by taking down the American Flag and going on about oppression, had the bright idea to make use of the gangs to be the ones to kill those resisting

Mostly because Tumblrites, Landwhales, Transtrenders, multicolored haired losers, soyboys and so on where horrible with weapons and even shot themselves in the foot

Actually became/became-part-of the new police-equivalent of the People's Republic

Unfortunately, I don't think these gangbangers will do so well when confronted with the ACTUAL Armed Forces and the ACTUAL SWAT coming on

Honestly, these guys will be a lower-part of the "More Equal Than Others"-class, their possession of say firearms will denote their special status and privileges

Pretty sure there are at least a dozen movies with a similar premise.

I remember one movie wherein a criminal pretended to be some sort of expert-investigator and showed the cops how criminals, especially smart ones, would really think and plan and execute their actions

Helped them catch and solve a bunch of cases, the whole time guy was just trying to get some stuff from the police and escape into Mexico where their jurisdiction didn't reach

Pay a ex pimp to find out alternative policing? Lolwut?
Criminals do actually police each other to some degree, though their methods are typically more violent and have a lot less due process than what we expect from actual police.

Arch Dornan

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.

They have to or the profits go down.

I think that was Will Smith. He had a diamond heist but one of his associates killed one of his partners and was about to kill him but he fled and served time going to the police.
