That error bar is not comforting.

We really need a dedicated PLANETES-esque space garbage collection group. These near collisions are only going to become more frequent and dangerous as we put more stuff up there.

Rosalind Franklin?

I could Google it but I prefer it being explained to me. :p

Any word yet on where they plan to land it in relation to our rovers?

Just asking because it'd be nice if they could go see if they can get Opportunity or Spirit back online with help from that rover.

It could be sold as a big international goodwill exercise, but with benefits for both long term. Paired/partnered rovers can allow new options when it comes to keeping rovers operational in adverse conditions.

I was thinking more about using the manipulator arms on the new rover to allow some repairs/work that cannot be done with computer instructions to the rovers themselves.

Like scrapping/moving the accumulated Martian dust-storm debris off of solar panels to see if we can get the rovers (or at least Opportunity) to boot back up.

I know it's a long short and not really the point of these sorts of missions, but the thought of that kind of international good-will cooperation in space gave me a bit of a warm, fuzzy feeling.

I will note that once we are able to send people to Mars, and especially if we are able to do so consistently, that bringing back the old rovers would be one of my personal priorities. They served well, they deserve to come home and placed in permanent museum displays.

Why not build a museum on top of their resting places instead?

Let's face it, most Human beings won't see those resting places for another century or two, easy. We could leave memorials there anyway while bringing the rovers home.

The State of NASA speech is ongoing as we speak.

Lots of stuff being announced in regards to the President's intended 25 billion dollar budget for NASA this year!

Docking stations above the main spar?

That's the only thing that looks odd in the pic, or at least only thing I noticed.

You know, for all the veneration for the Meatball NASA logo I see sometimes(and it is a good logo), I grew up in the 1980's. When I think of NASA, the logo I see is the Worm one.
