What he did was the literal definition of treason, and his actions of assembling a select cabal of military officers (which said cabal may include the non-military Pelosi, too) to undermine the then-President's authority because OrAnGe MaN bAd! steps straight into coup territory.

Aren't the legal punishments for these actions, by law, a hanging or firing squad? Or just life behind bars in a small concrete box, with only a slit of sunlight for company?

He has the CIB, Combat Infantry Badge. It means as someone below the rank of colonal had been in active Combat. Though one can get it from mortar shots and he like, he still was shot at and I'm an active firefight. Dude js Infantry, so definitely saw combat
It can be gamed though, in Iraq and Afghanistan it was common for shitbag officers to tag along with convoys in a safe position, until the convoy has been fired upon or targeted by IED, so they could then award themselves a CIB.

Unlikely in the peacetime and since he is Demonrat loyalist, the Cuomo option is more likely.

What's going to happen is as follows.

1) Congress will push for a panel to investigate the issue.

2) Congress will in 2-6 months form a panel to investigate the issue of investigating the issue.

3) The Congressional panel will spend 6 months to 2 years investigating the issue.

4) The Congressional panel will decide to okay an actual investigation.

5) The actual investigation will take 1-2 years.

6) The actual investigation will deliver it's findings, which will be moot because Milley will have retired some time in between the start of 3 and the end of 5.

So today's media spin...

Milley claims he had authorization to make the call.

But of course Christopher Miller the person Milley is claiming he got authorization from is denying it.

The problem of course being, outside of Fox nobody is reporting that second part.

These generals and admirals also answer to the same people who elevated him up to his current position.

Not that easy. The administration still has to prove its legitimacy to the people. Having a general who may have effectively of committed treason is not on the list of things that people generally approve of.

Psaki comes out and defends Miley.

He is not gonna get a single charge, I am betting on it. Military has been completly compromised.

It's still early. The admin is hoping that this blows over. Which is rather risky given how they tried that with Afghanistan. Pretty sure they're fucked up the idea of stealing the national security voting bloc for themselves.

They don't care. They are delusional and mad with power, we have seen that already. They will double down, gaslight their way into the next month and just count on their media arm to simply ignore and shift the narrative.

In a just world Milley would hang until dead.

But then in a sane world, Trump would have gutted the top ranks of the Pentagon when they concealed US troop deployments from him and refused to pull out US troops.

As for what actually happens? Biden isn't going to fire him and the Biden led executive branch isn't going to bring any charges against him. But he might end up resigning depending on how much backlash he suffers from both Congress and the public.

The Senate Armed Services Committee questioning of him at the end of the month is what to watch, because you know that they are going to ask him about it and he will be under oath.

"General, did you tell a PRC general that you would let him know if the President of the United States decided to engage in military action against the PRC?"

If he says no then you throw up the Five Eyes intercept of the call, if he says yes but that he had authorization then the question becomes who did the authorizing. Because the then SecDef says he never authorized it, and somehow I doubt Trump, Pence, or Pompeo did either.

Force the Yes/No answer out of him and then go from there.
