General Gaming Thread

Basically you play as Special Forces iirc trying to figure out what happend to a unit that went missing.
Along the way you end up committing massive war crimes, and you hide the truth from yourself as you go, until the very end when talking with...the dead officer as he has been dead and you were really the issue.
I wouldn't say Bad guy all along, but you were mislead due to PTSD and committed massive atrocities getting your teammates killed

War Thunder is adding the fucking Sovetsky Soyuz to the game, a fantasy made-up Russian battleship that never could've actually have worked or been built.

So now if I got a dollar for every naval video game where Russian battleships steal the limelight, I'd have two dollars. Which isn't much but is two more dollars than I should have.

With all that said, despite how pretentious and preachy Spec Ops: The Line is, this YouTube channel analyzes the villainy and evil acts of characters in various media and tends to be a pretty entertaining channel IMHO. I haven't seen this video yet but I'm sure it's more character analysis then fawning game review.

I rarely agree on @Zachowon that yeah it is more one lying to himself or didn't realizing what he was doing... something akin to Shutter Island (with the exception that the voice actor didn't partecipate to a Diddy freak off...) if it was a shooter... or if Rambo First Blood decided to stick to the original ending and making it a video-game. Without using academic mumbo jumbo, I think the game is the "embodiment" of the trope "nice job breaking it hero".

Why is gaming the most utterly retarded industry that makes no sense?

Imagine if fast food was the same.
"Can I get a...Uhhhhhhh...Double cheeseburger and fries?
"Vege-burger with lettuce and hash brown, got it!"
"What the fuck that isn't what I asked for?"
"LOOK WE'RE TAKING THINGS IN A NEW DIRECTION, JEEZ, WHAT ARE YOU, AN ANTI-FAN!?"

USAID did finance such BS before and also literally financed and organized the anti-gamergate smear campaign.

But even without govt involvement, artist heavy industries in general tend to be ridiculously brainrotted liberals. Conservatives are more prone to doing real jobs. And being grounded in reality enough to realize it is stupid to try to change the world via their art.

Hitler was a vegegerian artist. Coincidence? clearly not.

Also funny top comment on that story:

At our restaurant, we have customers and anti-customers. A customer is a person who eats any old slop or even any substance of any kind on a plate. However, if you get an anti-customer, they make edible things part of their identity. When you serve them slop that gives them food poisoning, or you change your old menu of burgers and replace it with a menu of broken glass, they, they ... sort of go out of their way to, like, make people aware you serve broken glass. It's very frustrating.

Game dev is weird in that a lot of it is legitimately hard science and hard work but the other half of it is more artist based.

Yea but nobody cares about the scientists and they get zero recognition or authority. its wholly controlled by the artists.

No spoilers please.

Also, non-indie teams made terrible endings, such as the Bioshock Trilogy and FEAR 2 and 3 also didn't exactly deliver.
