That anime would of been better if the MC didn't have a harem, Like the potential is there but it falls into the typical annoying isekai clichés.
Yeah, but sadly Isekai is waht sells and It is from the same guy who did Redo of healer.
I think that dude doesn't give a rat's ass about political correctness and includes all of the ree-inducing tropes in his stuff.

Personally I enjoyed it quite a bit, I could not get into the LN, though.

In any case I loved how the MC demolishes everything on account of being a thorough professional in his previous life.

It is close to curbstomp territory, but it is so, so good!

Sure, I dislike Isekai in general, too, since it is overdone by now, but this was a pleasure to watch despite that.

That said, stuff like The Dungeon of Black Company did a much better job at doing a better Isekai parody/deconstruction/insert hypsterspeak here.

Dungeon company black is fun, But I think that's because the MC is actually kind of interesting. But out of all the Isekai's the only one thats actually good is drifters because instead of some shut in loser going to another world its multiple historical bad asses and such who get sent there.

I really loved Hellsing and tried Drifters because it was by the same mangaka.

I couldn't really get into it TBH, also it is pretty old, from before the concept of Isekai ever existed, IMHO.

Also, fucking cowardly, whiny elves speaking nordic.

My granddaughter is watching sometng with a bluish unicorn (?) monster called Shisu in it. How woke is it? Should I step in and explain to her that it will make her brain rot and vote for the local Biden equivalent (Trzaskowski)?

As to Berserk:

Khorne and Tzeentch so proud! (y)
I love the "sinister" Japanese at 2:15

Has anyone here watched "Witch hunter Robin"? I remember seeing it back in the day but I don't recall if it was any good or not.
I think I saw one or two episodes, felt kinda slow and I couldn't get into teh art style, IIRC.

I actually like that art style well for the character designs anyways it looks a lot better than what is common today imo.
Dunno, I might need to rewatch it, but when I compare it to stuff from that and earlier eras it wasn't all that good TBH.

I found it kind of underwhelming. The pacing tended to be kind of slow, and I found the big twist to be a kind of "well duh." Naturally my anti-government streak didn't much care for the whole secret government organization hunting people down and disappearing or killing them because of their bloodline aspect of it, though the writing did usually justify it by making most of these people murderers by the time the squad caught up to them. Also rather perverse that they used witches to hunt witches, and had me kind of wondering if it wasn't a matter of time before the hunters became the hunted, not to mention wondering just what exactly did happen to the people they managed to take. I'm guessing this is why the anime was pretty popular when it was first localized, though.

Knights and Magic

A computer programmer who spends his money building gunpla gets hit by a truck and reincarnates in a fantasy world as Ernie. There are monster hordes and the monsters themselves are pretty huge, with the smallest being the size of a car. As such, fighting against them on foot is impossible so kingdoms built mecha to fight them (how humanity lasted long enough without the mecha, IDK).

Ernie joins his kingdom's mecha academy to learn how to build and pilot mechas. He begins redesigning and improving the mechas and gets a grant from the King to continue his research. Other kingdoms begin to take notice and try spying on his work. Show alternates between Ernie inventing something and a fight with monsters or other kingdoms.

The show started out as somewhat serious, but then about 2/3rds of the way through it went full camp, which is odd because the war kicked off and it was being treated as a joke with robot dragon battleships and their captains screaming at the top of their lungs like super sentai villains. Also, the monster hordes were completely absent during the war. You would think that with the merchant kingdom's army being overrun by the invasion that the monsters would start running rampant with no one to stop them. There also seemed to be a continuity screwup at the end where the previous king sits on the throne and has an audience with Ernie, rather than his son who he passed the throne to earlier in the show. Perhaps this is a Rose of Versailles situation where a different writer or director came in half way through the show?

The show had a few unique fantasy environments, like a forest with coral designs, or a desert that looks like Mars, a forest with crystals stuck in the trees, or the hidden valley:

That being said, the 3D CGI mechs and monsters brought down my enjoyment of the show. There was also some weird use of music at times that undercut the mystery or drama of a scene.

The show was overall above average for a modern anime.

EDIT: found out that it wasn't an anime original, but based off of a light novel. Apparently Ernie gets married and builds a mech for his wife as a wedding gift.

2) The elves are mi da hot, especially the dark elf. ;)
3) RORY IS BEAT GIRL!!!!!!111!!!! Seriously, the only rival she has is Tanya Degrucheff from whatever of Tanya the Evil. :D

Meant that if you like GATE then its strange that you don't also like Drifters.

Dunno, I generally dislike the Japanese obsession with swords, and that one IIRC had it.
Also it felt like an inferior version of Hellsing in a sense.

I actually preferred the first version of Hellsing where he fought Incognito if only because the story was a bit more serious and less goofy.

Yeah, apparently they shoved multiple volumes of LN into 13 episodes, because fuck it, it's an ad!

Not that I'm surprised, I don't think anybody who's come up through the ranks working on these LN adaptations knows how to elevate the source material.

The CG mecha and monsters wouldn't be a problem if anime CG studios had the institutional knowledge, hardware budget, and consistency of work to consistently improve their quality and learn how to make good stuff. But since the only show with multiple seasons and CGI mecha is a kids show about trains, most studios are handicapped.
