A woman trying to fight using a longsword at all: Incorrect.
Upper body strength matters.
Surprisingly, longswords are one
of the
best weapons for
women. Longswords are proportionally lighter than most one-handed weapons like rapiers or smallswords (that is to say per hand) and the extra few inches of reach really helps compensate for a woman's shorter arms compared to smaller blades.
The weapons that modern media prefers women to use, rapiers and bows, are really some of the worst weapons for them as both require far more upper body strength than other medieval options. There's no situation where a weaker upper body isn't bad when you're using muscle-powered medieval weapons but historically when women needed to fight, they've been given either longswords or spears for good reason.
