if only they didn't give him his own spin off series. shoulda been a 2 part episode at most.

Yeah, they kinda' went downhill with that one. Still, it provided me plenty of cheap laughs as a kid, despite lacking artful polish or other "substantive" takeaways.

Honestly, I was divided as to whether this one deserved a “Ha-ha” or “Sad” reaction. Can’t give reactions to individual images within the same post, unfortunately, but all the same, it’s a little disconcerting.

Also gotta’ wonder how often the reverse happens, too. That is, non-English speakers rocking out to upbeat-sounding Hollywood tracks with really lewd or depressing lyrics that’d make them stop dancing immediately if they could understand. Language barriers aren’t a one-way streak, after all. 😕

People in general don't listen to lyrics, so if there is an upbeat rythm, they can overlook the lyrics even if they understand them.

I understand German well enough and I heard this song many times on the radio, but never paid attention to lyrics, only years later did I catch ''und bring uns beide um'' (kill us both) at the end and I was like ''wait what?''.

How many people, who only hear Weird Al's You Don't Love Me Anymore on the radio consign it to background noise interchangeable sappy love song?

I know this song(bought a Toten Hosen CD when I spent one month in Germany, back in 1997).

I don't know about the radio version, but the CD version, after the "und bring uns beide um" line, has someone cocking a gun, firing two shots, a pause, and a single shot(after which the song ends)EDIT: Just saw the YouTube clip ends with the gunshots as well. Even though I am horrible at getting lyrics of a song by listening to it(even if the song is in Portuguese), THAT was enough of a clue about what the song was really about(just like the flatlining cardiac monitor at the end of WIZO's 'Egon' gave me a clue of what it was about).

Hah!

I always liked Faith No More's song Epic.

But, it's about sex of all types, including rape, and I never knew until it was pointed out. And I'm an english speaker, too. I just wasn't paying attention.
