People forget two things:

1) Horses happily eat meat when the opportunity arises. A little mouse wanders by their mouth while munching on hay? Chomp. Carrion? Chomp. A cheeseburger someone dropped? Chomp.
2) Pegasi are part bird. Birds eat meat and fish. Anatomically and realistically, a pegasus would probably have different teeth/a jaw structure to horses, ponies, and mythical breeds like unicorns because of their diet.
