Pour out a shot for another electronic retailer. I don't recall ever going to one myself but obviously heard of the chain. It operated large big box sized stores but focused largely on just selling electronics and appliances. Apparently at the moment Fry's Electronics had 28 remaining stores in nine states at the time of this abrupt closure. In 1985, three brothers (last name Fry) who already had retail experience, founded the first Fry's Electronics store in Sunnyvale, California.
Fry's Electronics (despite plenty of criticism over its controversial business practices in the late 90's) managed to survive the Great Recession of 2008 while competitors such as Circuit City (RIP), Ultimate Electronics (RIP), PC Club (RIP), CompUSA (RIP), Good Guys (RIP), and Media Play (RIP) ended up dead around the same time period. It was also late to the online sales game as well which hurt the company as it directly competed with big box retailers as well as Newegg and ScAmazon. After a series of abrupt store closures in 2019, the ongoing WuFlu Pandemic finally killed the company.
