Good news everyone: gog.com is offering a 100% discount on Outcast. For those who don't know, it's a classic adventure game where you travel the world trying to collect 5 artifacts to prevent the destruction of Earth through a black hole. Long story short, there was an accident while trying to send a probe to a parallel universe and things went pear-shaped. You play as a Special Forces Operator who ended up on the wrong side of the portal and now has to embarge on a quest. The game had fun details like you being able to sabotage the enemy by convincing the locals to stop supporting them with minerals, food, and taxes. That respectivly reduces their damage output, hp, and number of enemies present. The AI of enemies were fairly advantanced for its time. The developers went through the trouble of creating a language, complete with lexicon.

It's a classic for good reasons.

Technically not Free Games, but Steam has started its Christmas Sale, running from today to 5th of January. If there're any newish games you wanted to get for a lower price, now might be a good time to check if they offer them for more acceptable prices.

PsihoKekec

Swashbuckling Accountant

Quasimorphosis: Exordium - a simple roguelike game, where you deal with demonic infestation on a space station. Reminds me somewhat of the DRL.

Starting next Thursday Epic will have Star Wars: Squadrons as their free game of the week.

A few of us are looking at starting a Sietch group for it.

Hmm, Fallout New Vegas is free on the Epic Store this week. I may give it a shot so I can understand some of the Fallout Fanfics, never have played any of the games.

I intended to at one point but the only person on the board with fallout in their name changed it so I figured that was a pretty harsh rebuke to the series.

I do indeed. In fact the Free States in my new username now is a reference to a fallout faction. I am still an insane fanboy of the series, and I would under every auspice recommend you try it.

My recommendations concerning the play order of games is your preference towards RPG's as the first two and tactics are more that than later entries which are a mix of RPG and FPS.

Play order I would say is best is.

Fallout 1

Fallout 2

Fallout: New Vegas =
Fallout: 3

Fallout 4

Fallout 76 = Fallout: Tactics

Please note that 76 and Tactics aren't as interconnected to the rest of the series in plot but because Tactics has some lore mentions of the first two games and 76 does as well while also being an MMO with a steeper learning curve that can be better avoided if one plays Fallout 4 beforehand which in turn is better lore wise if you have played Fallout 3 before that, so I would recommend waiting until you complete those entries before discussing either.

There is/was? also Fallout Online. An excellent game, but what stood out the most to me was just how much money you could make by shoveling cow dung.
