So instead of the Brotherhood trying to take over the station it is a small task Mechanicus force led by a Enginseer.

He has the following escort and is tasked with reclaiming and holding the station for 72 Hours.


Forces are

4 Kataphran Destroyers
8 Skitaari Vanguard
8 Skitaari Rangers
16 Servo Skulls (8 Maintenance/Medics and the other 8 built for combat)

They are of the Xenarites faction so the Engineer will have no qualm with reprogramming the robots in Helios to help them.

Hmmm but aren't they squishy? Pretty sure autoguns and explosives are capable of killing Skitaari with mid to low difficulty.
Well, the IG flashlight is as powerful as the bigger antimaterial rifles from FO.

And Skitarii usually have access to much more powerful stuff than your average IG.

Tbf tho they still beat the Brotherhood who are more armored than Skitaari and have just as deadly weapons (A Fallout Laser Rifle is like the 40k equivalent of a melta)

I think the NCR win this one. Attacking a force that outnumbers you twenty to one seems rather hazardous. Especially since I feel the NCR would know they're coming. NCR Rangers are always on patrol and can raise the alarm over the approach of yon Weird types approaching Helios One.

And with superior numbers yo can do fun things like suppressive and pinning fire with one groups while having other units move to the flank or better firing positions and Ranger sharpshooters coordinating them all and plinking away at those that pop out from cover

The only issue I could see giving the NCR a OCP is if the Vanguard last long enough to do their super rad storm protocols.

I guess it's ironic that Fallout has rather handy OTC medication for both increasing radiation resistance and dropping rad levels as well. Not sure it'll trickle down to the Trooper level but if you've already been shot... I mean... The radiation might kill them more?

Frankly, the Mechanicus is screwed. They'll have some tricks up their slee...err...hidden in their cyber-limbs that the NCR won't expect, but the numbers will tell. Additionally, the NCR equipment will hurt the Mechanicus pretty effectively when they can bring it to bear.

I don't think anything changes but the kill tally.

Tbf the Radiation Weapons are closer to like 1,000 Rads a sec AOE sort of deal they'd need to be hopped up on Rad-X prior to the fight just to last long enough to administrate Rad Away.

I will say that the Admech will definitely be able to set the terms of engagement due to the servo skulls being used as scouts

More armored how?

The Mechanicus has access to far more advanced armor, and even if laser rifles from FO are impressive in some ways I don't think they hold a candle to the performance of more advanced Warhammer tech.

Remember that the IG flashlight is an equivalent damage wise to an anti-material rifle, like some of the truly big guns we see later on in FO:NV.
Don't recally their exact names but one was definitely an anti-material rifle.

Servo skulls are a bit bigger than head size and usually covered in enough metal so are reflective and not that hard to spot. Also...they aren't that dodgy and are pretty fragile.

As for the Mechanicus...most of their 'armor' is just the result of cybernetics. The dudes will drop pretty quickly when hit. The Kataphrons will take heavier weaponry, but the NCR has loads of that.
