We already do. I can remember in my youth being like that. Now, I look at what's become of the UK and can't help but feel sorry for them. Pussy-whipped nanny state.

Depends on the state. Some states are much stricter than others; Oregon is among the strictest, requiring sixteen hours (i.e. two days) of training and license renewal every two years with an four hour refresher course for basic unarmed security, and a further twenty-four hours of training for armed security (armed security are also required to have an unarmed security license), with a five hour refresher course on renewals.

That's criminal and one of my sisters (she's an engineer who has helped design several hospitals) is not happy, to put it mildly.
adding computers to everything does not make them inherently better.

Motion sensor so it automatically flushes when the person using it leaves after completing their "business". Those have been around for quite awhile.
Guess I wouldn't consider that "smart" since that's literally a basic light sensor and a switch. You can get ones that literally just fit over the handle and the switch just rotates a cog that pushes the handle down as it rotates around. 1980s tech. Maybe even 1970s.
