Well, in that case you should follow them, even if they don't allow energy weapons to in the hands of the people.
So, reviews are trickling in for the Frontier. It's technically brilliant, but with awful, edgy, horny writing.
I'll not that I only predicted the awful edginess, but I'm still saying Called It.
Fortunately I only heard of it when it was released so I have little investment in expectations.
And I can still amuse myself by unlocking new Fallout New Vegas endings.

And the mod's been taken down by the creators, because one of the guys that worked on it is, if not a pedophile, functionally so close to being one it's not worth the trouble of sorting it out. Apparently he wasn't responsible for quest design, just one of the designers for icons and equipment, so I'm not sure if the creepier elements of the mod can be blamed on him or not.

Too bad they took it off Steam before I could claim it. Looks like quite the trip.
I feel like that (even if it is true) its nonsense, and that the real reason they are taking it down is because of the negative backlash.
They got raided by 4Chan before this, and the mod has received a lot of negative reviews.
Multiple devs including the project lead have already dropped out.
I'd be surprised if this even made it to its official Steam release.
This all ties into why small studios and indie teams don't tend to work well.

There's nothing wrong with a small team, the problem is that it actually has to be a team, with a leader, defined goals, a shared vision, etc, vs the Frontier which had neither of those, plus a public pitch that didn't align with the actual content.
And honestly, Frontier could have still made it even with that. Fusion City Rising and its offshoot/companion mods have most of the same issues as Frontier (maybe worse. At the very least Frontier had the taste to not make an extremely dated and unfunny Olsen Twins "joke"), and FCR didn't get anywhere near the flak that Frontier did, despite having the same tonally inconsistent, immature, and lore breaking story. Frontier isn't that different, and it actually brings some impressive technical design to the game.
I think the real issue was that Frontier spent so long being advertised as "this massive super mod 7 years in the making, the biggest NV mod ever" that people built up expectations for it that it utterly failed to deliver one, whereas something like FCR was crapped out in the course of a year or so and didn't have to deal with that level of expectation.

I've seen some shit fanfics. Hell, I've written a shit fanfic! From what I've heard about Frontier, it makes some of the shit fanfics that I've read look like decent fanfics.
Also, quite a sidenote for Fallout in general:
It was originally going to use the GURPS system. If you actually study the GURPS system and the SPECIAL system, they're effectively identical.
The reason for this was that Fallout was going to be a GURPS setting but Steve didn't like the black comedy or the fact that the first thing that the player sees in the game is someone getting executed in the street on TV. Thus, the SPECIAL system was created based on the GURPS framework.

That’s fair enough.
I suspect that the one guy is being used as a convenient scapegoat.
I haven't actually heard anyone on the frontier dev side saying "no, all the creepy stuff was just the one guy, it was all his fault", they've been fairly upfront about the actually controversial stuff being done without his involvement.
And the removed content doesn't really address the core story issues, it just cuts a few skeezy bits that were, while glaringly problematic, nowhere near the worst issue.
Shame. They should've mentioned the most important faction of all... The Boomers.
Cautious after the Boomers's display of power at the Capitol, Caesar chose to leave the Boomers alone. The Boomers remained isolated but have been seen flying over Social Media from time to time.
