Speaking of the Great War, a new just came out covering the founding of the brotherhood of steel. Normally not big news, but it's by a very proven mod team (one of the guys behind is working on the fallout 3 remake and has published several creation club mods), with several well known voice actors involved. The most prominent of which bring the actor for Roder Maxson, who is now voiced by Mark Meer.

Wow, i haven't seen new storyteller stuff from them in Years.

I know, I figured the whole project was dead, but no, they were just quietly working on it the whole time.

i didn't know the mod team got this far ahead .

It's hard to judge "how far" they are based on trailers, for all we know that's literally everything they've got done put together and the rest of the game (IE, the overwhelming majority of if) is barely started. It's be nice if they gave more concrete figures, which they should be able to do since we know what the end goal is, they oit to be able to say "we've got 50% of the equipment models, 40% of the world space, 25% of the quests remade" etc.

As for the trailer, I see they're bringing the Wattz laser rifle mod in, alongside the AER9. Interesting choice, and a good sign the team is willing to make changes if they're needed (though why they decided to add the wattzs instead of ditching visable holstered weapons is a question worth asking). I have more questions about showing off the LAER, however, that's not a base game weapon and unless they're just integrating the existing mod (I guess that trend I don't like of people recreating distinctive weapons from prior games in New games does have its upsides), they should maybe be more focus on just remaking NV as is and not doing DLC stuff.

As it happens, the Fallout 3 remake team is doing the reverse, last I heard they're trying to remake Point Lookout first as a testbed/showpiece before they do the main game.

So, I just finished that shoddycast story mod. It's very good, some minor bugs but nothing unfixable. Tells the story of Mariposa and Maxson's history with it very well and it was very smart to use the memory den system to run the player through a bunch of little vinaigrettes. Meer nails the role, which he pretty much had to given how much of the mod focuses on Maxson. I think the one thing it does the best is fill in context for people who's initial familiarity with the brotherhood was fallout 3, because retelling the story of mariposa helps to sell Arthur Maxson as a character and give more context to his actions. When you here Rodger Maxson talk, you can here a few echos of Arthur, and it helps show why Arthur acts the way he does and why he views this as being the "proper" route for the BOS to take.

fallout 4 needs a remake

Like to see New Vegas and Three first to be honest.

Though if people are really ambitious, remake Fallout and Fallout 2... Or give it an enhancement like the ADnD games since going first person might be too crazy (especially for Fallout 2).

Speaking of which Fallout and Fallout 2 are still dun games to play IMHO. The engine is old but the gameplay doesn't feel particularly dated to the point of being a chore like with some older games.

I recently discovered that someone has created a set of rules for running a game of Vampire the Maserade in the setting of Fallout 3.

Fallout/VTM

I haven't looked over the hard mechanics themselves much, but the background lore seems very interesting. It sadly only covers the Capital Wasteland, with the rest of the country being given only a few references.

I think my favorite parts of this are how the Enclave and BoS are treated. The Enclave is ruled by the Camarilla, and though still corrupt and brutal does not seem to have ever been genocidal, and they are implied to still be a powerful force in the West Coast.

While it's not perfect it's still worth a read from a fan of both settings.

The Frontier, which brings ones New Vegas adventure to the idyllic Portland, Oregon wasteland has been released after three years of anticipation.

It's proved so popular it crashed its own Nexus Mods page.

Looks good. Might have to dust off my ol' copy of Fallout: New Vegas and give it a try.

And then play it through as Sarah Palin a second time round.

I've been thinking of doing the same, might even livestream it, if there's any interest in that here.

So, I decided I'm definitely going to do a livestream this weekend, Specifically Sunday. Plan is to start around noon and go for a couple hours, enough to go through a chunk of the content on one of the sides and see how the story goes.

Anyone got a vote for who they'd like me to side with between NCR, Legion, and Crusaders of Steel?
