They're expecting the Republicans to refuse to vote for it, then they'll say "look! The Republicans won't fund nasa! Look how they're screwing over NASA! Those evil terrible Republicans! How can they not vote on such a sensible bill that allows contractors to work with NASA? REPUBLICANS WANT TO DESTROY NASA! And they're against voter rights too! Republicans want to destroy nasa and stop black people from voting!"

and a of their followers will look no deeper than CNN/MSNBC who keep repeating this. They'll eat it right up. And as far as they know, it's just another example of evil Republicans trying to screw people over.

NASA isn't irrelevant, and usually both left and right people like NASA.

But space is becoming more commercial, and this is a good thing. It'll bring costs down. NASA is out there working with commercial entities and nations doing some solid science. James Webb Space Telescope being a recent example. If they can contract a lot of this stuff out to commercial entities, that's good for everyone.

The science that went into JWST, and the discoveries that come from it...that's not irrelevant.

IIRC, elections in Georgia are certified by the Secretary of State. Since 2019 that's been Brad Raffensperger. He's a Republican.
