Somewhere in India

It had been less than 24 hours since revolts exploded in the Republic of India due to a couple of defections from regiments of the Indian Armed Forces against the reviled Military Junta of India.

Despite some temporary ceasefire attempts, the populace wasn't in a good mood. They still demanded the restoration of democracy immediately and nothing else was gonna stop the people from protesting against the military government's heinous crimes against humanity as well as the open, blatant illegal operations known as the Dirty War 2.0: where the death toll ranged toward over 3,000,000; other heinous extreme measures included the controversial eugenics procedures in aggressively pushing "Whitening of the Republic" against perceived outside agitators whom the regime referred to their opponents.

What also enraged the populace was the complicit support of the Military Junta of India from several countries: United States, Great Britain, France, Australia and many intelligence agencies such as the US Central Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, etc.,

"The rage I felt when it was discovered or discussed that several nations had been complicit in supporting the Junta for the past 13 and half years: the Americans, British, French? Why did they say nothing when human rights violations escalated so out of control?" fumed Paulina Ferroz, as she was turning red over her fury when one of her close friends revealed more complicity of countless others backing the regime.

"I didn't know what to think. My fury and rage was on the verge of lashing out at anyone from the international media, who didn't understand or was completely ignorant of the ugly situation happening in India."

Paulina hung up the phone, walking to her room and cried quietly at the horrific betrayal of so-called international friends or colleagues, "Whoever is complicit in supporting this evil junta will pay!" She vowed. "I will publish an explosive dossier to expose who's complicit!" She couldn't figure out which officials were complicit, but she was hell-bent on exposing the dirty laundry and dirty little secrets of anyone, diplomacy be damned!

Day 3 of the Revolution

Emergency-in-India-2-1.jpg
Now it was Day 3 of the revolt against the Military Junta of India, especially embattled Indian President General Ved Prakash Malik, who disappeared from public view since the humiliating press conference at Parliament.

Malik had been holed up at Officers Quarters of the Indian Army Headquarters: things were going from bad to worse as more defections from regiments of the Indian Armed Forces continued; the Air Force (who were defecting to the opposition in recent weeks and months) announced publicly they would be joining the opposition and wouldn't be taking orders from the embattled Indian President.

"Annoying fools, who nag too much" Malik angrily snarled. Nothing had gone right for the 11th President of the Republic of India since the days of this revolt began. However, the backlash against Malik had been escalating due to political incompetence, mismangement of fiscal policy and obviously human rights violations during his 13 months in power.

The calls for his resignation continued to grow louder as protesters marched non-stop in the streets of New Delhi. During an emergency meeting with some members of his Cabinet, Malik told them "We're now in the fight for the Military Junta government's survival against a group of outside agitators. Time for another attempt at cracking down on these fools!"

Little did he realize there were unseen forces underway in his abrupt downfall.......

GATOR BOWL: NORTH CAROLINA HOLDS OFF WEST VIRGINIA
*January 1, 1997: No. 12 North Carolina Tar Heels (10-2) defeated No. 25 West Virginia (8-4) in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida. There's been speculation about the future of Tar Heels Football Head Coach Mack Brown on whether he'll bolt from Chappel Hill in a few years.

FLORIDA CITRUS BOWL: TENNESSEE VOLS BLOW OUT OHIO STATE

*January 1, 1997: The No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers (10-2) led by Vols quarterback Peyton Manning, routed No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes 48-28 in the Florida Citrus Bowl. Manning had been considering going to the NFL after the 1996 Season, but decided to come back to Knoxville for his senior year in 1997.

ORANGE BOWL: CORNHUSKERS TAKE THEIR ANGER OUT ON HOKIES

*December 31, 1996: Just weeks after seeing their dreams of a three-peat crash and burn in the inaugural 1996 Big 12 Championship Game in St. Louis, No. 6 Nebraska Cornhuskers (11-2) easily trounced the Big East champion No. 10 Virginia Tech Hokies (10-2) by a score of 65-21 in the Orange Bowl at the Pro Player Stadium in Miami, Florida.

SUN DEVILS MAKE HISTORY, FINISH CINDERELLA SEASON GOING UNDEFEATED AFTER WINNING ROSE BOWL CLASSIC

*January 1, 1997: In what many people called "One of the classic college football games in history", millions watched on ABC as the Pac-12 champion No. 2 Arizona State Sun Devils (12-0) led by Sun Devils quarterback Jake Plummer, came from behind to defeat Big 10 co-champion No. 11 Northwestern Wildcats (10-2) by a score of 49-48 when Plummer used a trickplay by faking the handoff and ran into the endzone all alone when Sun Devils Football Head Coach Bruce Snyder decided to go for the game-winning two-point conversion with less than 3.7 seconds left.

Plummer was named Offensive Most Valuable Player of the Game.

The win likely gives the Sun Devils a share of the national championship.

Minor nitpick: Arizona St. v. Northwestern would have ended with a tie instead of going to overtime during the '96 season.

The sun devils are 11-0-1. The wildcats are 10-1-1.

I'll be working on the segments of the Fiesta Bowl between Penn State vs Texas and the Sugar Bowl between Florida vs Florida State.

Hint: Nittany Lions and Gators still win these games respectively.

Sometime over the weekend: 1996 NFL Playoffs.
I'd like to see what you have to say about the mid-to-late '90s Pacers.

Reggie Miller sorta redefined how an SG plays basketball. That high arcing 3pt shot with 40% accuracy was no joke because he had to shoot over his big sis Cheryl when he was growing up. She's in the Hall of Fame.

You also couldn't foul him because he was 90% accurate from the free throw line. When he was pulled from his last NBA game he was 39 and got a standing ovation from everyone present. This included the opposing team and the referees.

He went 11/16 and scored 27pts against one the best defenses the NBA had to offer while the Pacers used a "get the ball to Reggie" offense that had been pulled from the archives despite him no longer being able to jump high enough to dunk a basketball.

Steph Curry ain't that good.

Haven't gotten to the NBA Playoffs yet, but it's likely the Chicago Bulls win their 5th (1997) and 6th (1998) NBA championship.

Considering the timeline began in November 1996 (six months after Bulls won their 4th NBA championship over Seattle in six games).

In '98 the Pacers were up by 3 with 9 minutes to go in Chicago. The winner of that game 7 had to face the Jazz without home court. Scotty Pippen flat out said that he didn't think the better team won during the post-game interview.

We know you love 'bama. They aren't always the best. In '96 Penn St. was the adopted bastard stepchild of the Big 10 and they were ranked higher than the Crimson Tide.

Reggie Miller cleared enough space for an easy 3pt shot while he was being chased by the entire Chicago Bulls defense. Michael Jordan is chasing him and can't keep up. The ball is still in the air when the Chicago Bulls realize that they just lost a playoff game and concede defeat.
