So it seems Disney has been refusing to pay Alan Dean Foster for the books he wrote, which they are currently still selling. The SFWA Grievance Committee isn't amused. I do rather like Foster's reply, "A contract is a contract." Disney's opener was to demand that Foster sign an NDA preventing him from speaking on the matter, before they were willing to speak to or negotiate with him at all, which has a lot of people scratching their heads, since that's not how things are done.

Especially as this is a huge message to all potential future authors that might work for them - "sign up with us and we won't pay you a dime of what we owe you".

It is pretty sad. What has the entertainment industry come too? I don't expect anything truly good most of the time, those are gems, but I expect decent works much of the time, and panem and circenses the majority of the time. These days I cannot get those gems anymore, nor even the works of middling quality...hell it is rare to properly have a hunk of bread while watching some clowns tumble out of cars anymore.

On another note, I have this interesting idea for a comic series that I've been working on for some time (I'm a writer, not professional yet but I'm getting there).
I plan to finish the concept plan and then send it in to Dark Horse, to see if they're interested in making it into a actual comic book series.
Does anyone have any clue how to send in concepts and stuff like that to a big publisher?

But getting your hashtag trending on social media and raising a stink through media interviews and various YouTubers (Star Wars Theory & Midnights Edge for example) and other independent outlets does... who knew?
