In other news, the jury has reached a decision and will be reading it to the court between 4:30-5pm EST.

My money's on a "compromise" manslaughter charge. The murder charges have no merit, but the jury would have to be suicidal to let Chauvin off Scott free and there's enough wiggle room in the case for a decent faith manslaughter charge.
I know if I was a Juror, Manslaughter would be what I vote for.

My bet is murder 3 but not 2.

Not what I think is right obviously, but what I think they'll do.

Any chance of it getting appealed or the like?

He can always appeal.

What you should be asking is if the appeals court is as cucked as the jury that convicted him?

I doubt the appeals court is going to do anything for Chauvin, considering the shear amount of political pressure that would be coming down on them.

Chauvin is fucked at this stage.

I have no doubt the defense will appeal, but overturned? Doubtful. I was talking to my lawyer buddy about this...you can't get something overturned on just Waters if the evidence is clear that, absent this decision, the same verdict would have been reached. And it *was* after the jury was sequestered.

One of the Fox News commenters said it best...Chauvin let his ego run things and it wasn't his amigo. I don't think it gets overturned because on its own, I'd say the evidence is damning.

No.
Appeal court is more likely to help him especially with Maxine Waters statement.
That alone can get Appeals court to consider this one a mistrial and he gets another one.
And gets to have Nelson once again as the defense attorney

No the evidence is not damning.
Chauvin did nothing fucking wrong.
Plenty have proved it.
Nelson fucking proved it.
The jury just got fuckijg intimidated by a bunch if crazy commies and rioters.

This is like the PERFECT ad for a 2nd amendment person btw.

Every criminal case is entitled by law to an appeal; it's only further appealing an appeal (to the appeals court en banc or to the state or federal Supreme Court) that is discretionary.

The only caveat is that appeals courts do not second-guess determinations of fact made by the trial court and jury; they review technical issues of how the law was applied.

Yeah I don’t even get how this is supposed to be possible. You second degree murdered someone and man slaughtered them and third degree murdered them?

Generally each charge has different standards for the burden of proof that the prosecution has to meet. The standard to convict for Manslaughter or Murder 2 will vary wildly from third or first degree murder etc.

And Juries are obligated by law to convict solely based off those standards. Something that meets the standards for manslaughter usually doesn't for the others.

A Judge can set the verdict aside and in some states recommend the jury for a fine or something based off that.

Not just get overturned but mistrial for the appeal.
Thank you Maxime Waters

Not just that dumbass but the Press doxxing the Jury a week ago IIRC.

That's textbook criminal intimidation. You can't do that shit without causing a mistrial.

Yikes, a guilty verdict on all three? That's almost surely going to be a successful appeal...
No. It's very difficult to appeal what goes on in the jury room, unless you know racial bias or something like it occurred. Any conviction would have been appealed, the full conviction just makes it more durable, absent a full mistrial (looking at you, Maxine Waters).

Not how it works I believe. He can only be punished for one, but if only one gets overturned on appeal (usually from a technicality), the others stand, IIRC. Even if he does get punished for all 3, they'd be severed concurrently, not consecutively, which means he'd serve no extra time.
