For the record, we're can now build up to 12 vehicles/turn.

We definitely need to take this:
[] Approve the upgrade (total cost 2485.6 to upgrade to the new design AND complete the battalion. The upgrade increases Offense and Defense by 1 and HP by 4)

Assuming we accept advisor rec for 9 Verdun UDV, that leaves us with room to get 2 vehicles

Omake: Since U Been Gone

"How could you?!??!?!" Willis wails melodramatically, flailing his arms with a sheaf of military files clutched in hand. "I just took a little nap, and the very moment my back is turned, you're letting NOLLAK INDUSTRIES have access to advanced autocannon technology!"

"Technically, they're the same guns they had before, it's just the ammunition feeds that are improved. . . " adds Thanh helpfully. "I've flown against them in simulations, they are really nasty."

"YOU HAVE TOTALLY! BETRAYED! PILOTS! EVERYWHERE!" declares Willis grandly. "AND NOW WE SHALL HAVE OUR REVENGE!!!"

Willis and Thanh pounce on you, and Willis gleefully demonstrates that he remembers exactly where all of your ticklish spots are.

So the biggest factor in any military buildup from here on our isn't funding, but time and how early factories are founded.

My biggest problem with Decim's plan is not having Pollux infrastructure (which includes the defenses for Pollux, along with ability to build factories etc.) Beyond that, I have slightly different research priorities, so here's my plan:

[X] Approve the upgrade (total cost 356.4 and will take 1 turn, the upgrade increases Offense and Defense by 1 and HP by 4)
[X] Approve the upgrade (total cost 2485.6 to upgrade to the new design AND complete the battalion. The upgrade increases Offense and Defense by 1 and HP by 4)

[X] Plan: Organized Construction
-[X] Military 5 [$46766.4]
--[X] Expand the Aerie to a full Military University* [->1]
--[X] Establish Forward Research Base [85]
(Almost to Wolverines!)
--[X] Harden Factory 4
(Protect the dropship factory)
--[X] Harden Factory 3
(Protect the level 2 factory)
--[X] Purchase New Units
---[X] 9 Platoons Verdun UDV for Hue Moi Garrison [70]
---[X] 1 Flight Goshawk [70]
---[X] 2 Lance Ambush Light Mech [70]
---[X] 1 Flight Eagle [70]
---[X] 2 Platoons Lion Tank Platoon for new Second Armored [70]
(Meant as new Castor/Pollux defense unit at present)
--[X] Free Actions
---[X] Purchase expeditionary team for Enterprise-class Dropships [90]
---[X] Field Test Pathfinder [95]

-[X]Interior 5 [$20750]
--[X] Send Coast Guard to chart and survey Petrochemical find off Five Fingers (E2 on map)* [75]
--[X] Expand Orbital Factory 4 (Ferro-fibrous) to Rating 2 [75]
(Needed for lots of stuff)
--[X] Build infrastructure on Pollux [->4]
(Defenses and vehicle production)
--[X] Have Exploration Fleet Survey Griffin's Roost Moon [75]
(Exploration practice)
--[X] Build factories for Roc on Castor [95]
(More fighters=good)

-[X] Diplomatic 3 [$10100]
--[X] Increased funding for the arts [70]
--[X] CULTURE - Monuments Ho! [75]
(Lets keep Approval high)

-[X] Political 3 [$1000]
--[X] Town Hall Meetings
(Fairly cheap approval change)

-[X] Research 4 [$152000]
--[X] Anti-Missile System* [auto]
--[X] LOSTECH - Mauser 960 Assault System [75]
(Significant infantry buff, possibly other bonii)
--[X] Orbital Infrastructure lvl 3 [75]
(Needed for next tech level, and potentially has immediate effects)
--[X] Cure for Cancer [->1]
(Highly valuable medical enhancement)

-[X] Intelligence 3 [$50]
--[X] Interrogate POWs [65]

-[X] Justice 2 [$0]

Correct, for Sunhawks sake, I add in any miscellaneous costs like the USS Enterprise finishing and this turns military upgrades to the category cost.

I added the upgrades there too, but when we completed the small craft last time he said not to include major craft in the cost. I don't think it's a problem if you do so, just need to make sure it's identified which way it is.

You might have been happier a time or two in your life. But if so, you couldn’t really pinpoint anything since you are pretty sure you are just as happy now as you were for the birth of each of your kids.

Sarah is awake.

You got the call that she was waking up just in time to make it to the hospital so you were there holding her hand when she finally opened her beautiful (cloned, thank God for small miracles!) eyes.

Willis was holding her other hand, so she awoke to both of her parents, and all three of you immediately started crying together.

Your family was whole once more. That nightmare, at least, had ended.

It would be a hard road ahead. Sarah would have to undergo even more PT than Willis, combined with constant medical checks to monitor the cloned tissue, while also catching back up on her schoolwork and everything else she’d missed in the time she was comatose.

But that didn’t matter.

Your daughter was in your arms, hugging you back for the first time in far too long, whole, and she would be healthy.

Thank God.

The entire family is there, and now, after having suffered such a tragedy, you fully understand, in your heart rather than your head, just how… how complete… it feels to have all your children surrounding you. Sometimes you have to lose something for a time in order to realize just how much you value it, you guess.

Then you heard Bastet growl and the sound of running feet down the corridor, accompanied by the ‘click’ you associated with a Grifftiger in full pursuit. A roar, and a few moments later one of your guard platoon stuck his head in the door to inform you that Bastet had caught a paparrazo in the act of taking photos of the entire situation. Said pap was now pinned by a very angry tiger and would you please get Bastet to let him up so the nice police officers can take him into custody.

That breaks some of the emotional maelstrom at least. You might have to thank that idiot, after you confirm him being sentenced to count dire penguins.

Unexpected heavy storms have delayed the surveys of the petrochemical deposits around Five Fingers, luckily there were no casualties and the ships had survived unharmed, but the series of storms were rather epic. You got to see holos taken from one of the vessels and at times it seemed like the waves were taller than the ship was long. You almost get seasick just watching it.

The town halls are another overwhelming success, so much so that they run over their allotted schedule and will not finish until Q1 of next year. So many people have showed up for them that you simply can’t just call them done, but the support has been… heartwarmingly overwhelming.

The anti-missile system completes its certification testing with flying colors and is immediately adopted to the upgrade to the Wolfhound hovertank. You get to view some field trials of the system and it works beautifully.

The finest pilots of the Aerospace Force are assigned to the 4 birds of the USS Enterprise Aerospace Detachment to fly the shiny new Eagles. You have your first truly elite unit, fitting for a unit assigned to your first dropship.

The dropship herself completes her shakedown cruise around the Moon without incident. They didn’t spot anything of particular interest, but they were able to practice all elements of their operations without issue. Perhaps the moon truly is as boring as the old reports claim, or maybe both your first expedition and whatever work your ancestors did just missed things.

You pays your money and you takes your chances, as they say.

A massive public art installation and playground is installed in one of the large public parks in Hue Moi. Consisting of a sculpted grifftiger lounging amongst a set of cascading pools and meant to celebrate the ‘tigers themselves. The pools are large enough for the big cats to splash around in all they want, and have smaller pools suitable for children (or cubs). Play equipment is scattered here and there amongst the pools as well.

There are generalized improvements to planetary infrastructure, mostly involving moving up maintenance schedules and improving bridges to better accommodate higher speed transportation. The effects on the economy are significant. On that note, the ferro-fibrous orbital forge has been expanded in capacity.

The forward base for the bunker exploration mission has been completed under conditions of secrecy. It is disguised as a simple mining camp to facilitate exploratory mining operations in the area.

The Enterprise-class production line has seen some hardening. It is difficult to truly harden a dropship line, with how massive the various components are requiring significant open space, but the engineers manage magnificently.

Speaking of factories, a new factory has been built on Castor to produce Roc ASFs, while the Eagle production line has been expanded with a second line joining the first to double production rates.

R&D reports that they’ve cracked the puzzle for mass-producing ferro-aluminium armor, which unfortunately will require a separate orbital foundry capable of creating the exotic alloy. General power generation technology has also been advanced with across the board improvements to industrial-scale thermal management of power generation systems. Not quite applicable to military use, but helpful nevertheless.

You do, however, get a rare treat. The chance to play with a new gun. The teams reverse-engineering the Mauser 960 system made an early decision to not simply copy it but to rather learn from it and produce your own version to your own requirements while mastering all of the technology contained in the old rifle.

The Griffin Arms M2954 is… amazing. It is significantly lighter than the Mauser 960, the techs have a copy so you got to compare it, mostly due to removing the survival kit and streamlining the system. The grenade launcher is still integrated, it actually saved a kilo to do it that way rather than make use of a rail mount, but all of the weapons furniture is based off of endosteel technology. Built around an extremely sophisticated pulse laser core, the entire rifle actually weighs the same, with the integrated 5 shot grenade launcher, as the current standard laser rifle you’d only recently put in service with an external 3 shot launcher.

Of greater interest, the heatsink technology used to cool the pulse laser is so compact that it has led your scientists to believe that they have the key to unlocking freezers for your mechs and aerospace platforms.

And that… that is impressive.

You get the interrogation report from Harry finally. He cautions you that this contains only the material they’ve been able to cross-check amongst the prisoners and in which they have the highest degree of confidence.

The Kuritans have conquered a planet one jump away from you called Nowa Warszawa and, at the time the DEST teams departed, were still in the process of fully subjugating the local population. The teams claim that they have a full Jenner production line that they will use to ‘crush the enemies of the Dragon’ and that we should ‘surrender now to the glory of House Kurita and know the true fulfillment and contentment that only comes from service to the Dragon’. They also talk about their ASFs blotting out the stars and other nonsense. We’ve been able to confirm just about everything that Dagny and the other freed comfort women told us, as well as how the commander of the expedition is ‘related to the Dragon’ and will ‘bring honor to us all’. They have limited jumpship capability, although we’ve not been able to extract any details as none of them are naval types.

The new Urban Defense unit has stood up in Hue Moi. Your son was present at the ceremony and personally presented the battalion commander with the unit colors. In addition the first several platoons for the 2nd Brigade of 1st Armored have reported for duty. The upgrades to the Wolfhound and the Avenger have also been completed and are in service.

On December 30th, 2954, an alert was sounded in the Palace. A jump signature was spotted at the Nadir point of the system and three drive plumes had been detected. However they were not on an intercept course to Griffin’s Roost. Instead, they appear to be heading for Griffin IV.

Further interrogation reveals that the Dragon in question is actually Mushu.
