Your two little sisters are both due for a date with the Tyler Lee Memorial Defenestration Window. But only after you thoroughly kick both their asses on the track. Being dragged from the palace by your grandkids at your sister's instigation to a family race day at a local track was not on the schedule and not something you had planned, but you proved vulnerable to quivering lower lips and unscrupulous Big Cry EyesTM. Of course the kids are having a ton of fun, but Thanh and Sarah dragged you out to the ‘adult bumper cars’ and challenged you to a rematch for family champion status.

Once you get back to the palace they are going through the Window. Maybe then you’ll admit that you enjoyed yourself. There is no truth whatsoever to any claims that you were whooping on the bumper car track.

Just when you thought you were free to get back to work, your own eldest son betrays you by dragging you and Alita, along with all the grandkids, off to the beach for a family beach day. He is going through the Window as well. You have too much work to do to slack off at the beach.

Evidently absolutely nobody agrees with your well-reasoned and highly rational arguments to the contrary and you find yourself wearing board shorts and laying on a chaise lounger while the kids frolic in the waves. Bastet and Sekhmet are both far too big to be thrown through the Window, and they have joined in the nefarious plot to make you take a day off. By virtue of Sekhmet sprawling across your lap and pinning you down until she decides you’ve relaxed enough.

So you give up and just let things go for the day. Although the people charged with maintaining the WIndow better be on their A Game once you get back to the palace!

A few days, and a few stress-relieving defenestrations, later you are finally allowed back in the office. You probably should admit that you needed the break. Your Ministers had kept up on the paperwork and handled things in your absence. It’s what they’re paid for, after all.

You do get one combat report, however. HMS Morristown, HMS Pilum and HMS Pfiel had jumped into GX-A5 and managed to promptly capture a Drac Monolith intact, although the crew had to be killed before they managed to sabotage or self-destruct the vessel. A running battle through the system saw all Drac units present utterly demolished, with several of them surrendering following mutinies on board.

GX-A5 is a very dim red dwarf star with a single actual planet which, surprisingly, could potentially be habitable with a great deal of work by DoME due to the extremely frigid conditions. Not an arctic world like Nowy Gdansk, but rather a world so cold that the atmosphere is only nominally gas. However the survey of the planet found enormous deposits of industrial metals and massive methane hydrate reserves, this world is a potential industrial magnet. From the DoME representatives attached to the survey crew, a number of giant mirrors to focus more of the star's energy onto the planet and you’d be in business, and even then with sufficient effort extreme-cold arcologies could be built, it’s within your means.

The rest of the system consists of a sparse asteroid belt and a dwarf planet that is only vaguely spherical and orbiting so close to the primary that any flares could easily envelope it, although the star appears to be very stable.

The captured Drac dropships are a bunch of Achilles class vessels, nothing particularly special about them, and the loyalist crews had managed to wipe the computers before the mutineers could stop them. The mutineers themselves were all ‘lower decks’ sorts, conscripts who had absolutely no loyalty to the Dragon whatsoever.

In combination with POW interrogation a picture emerges. The Dracs have found some source of ‘primitive’ manpower other than Kilburrough, people with limited knowledge of modern technology who report that their world had been previously left alone by special arrangement with the previous Dragon, the current one’s father, but that the current one had violated the agreement and conquered the place and enslaved the populace. None of them have any knowledge of astrographics, and so are unable to identify the location of their homeworld.

Siriwan informs you that she is completely unaware of any such world, and there are no indications whatsoever about it in any of the computer systems you captured on Nowa Warszawa. Inquiries with the NRR yield little useful information. Unfortunately the only person who might know anything is Gustavson himself, and he is currently in a medical coma following a severe heart attack. He is expected to recover, but is unavailable to ask about whatever this might be.

However what you do know is that a significant force of Dracs are engaged in their favorite atrocity-laden brutality of people too weak to significantly resist them. Such honor, what samurai.

Several aerospace museums in the Empire have expressed an interest in the captured dropships, however the NRI and NRR have both also expressed interest in acquiring the dropships themselves. While in no way up to the standards of your own craft, an Achilles is still a quite capable craft in its own right.

You take the time to attend the initial parades of the new units that have come online this year. An entire new Brigade Combat Team, an Armored Brigade, and a Cavalry Brigade are a nice boost in your ground combat power. The new garrison units are formed up and on duty and the expansion of the militia has been fully financed.

The new Trenton class transports are rather nice, you wish you’d had something like this when you were conducting your first series of combat landings back in the day. Efficient, yet comfortable, with more than sufficient amenities of the sort that soldiers actually need, as opposed to want.

The dockyards are extremely busy, both churning out new dropships and expanding. In addition a new yard has been built in Nowy Wroclaw, featuring both a capital slip and a regular orbital yard complex side by side.

A new endosteel forge is in operation in Calliope. Investment in improving all of the Empire’s endosteel forges yields some economic benefits but no net increase in production.

A number of new commercial stations in Griff’s Leap and Nowy Wroclaw boost commercial traffic, especially as they are directly along major trade routes.

The Colonial Office continues to expand, keeping ahead of Imperial expansion and ensuring that every world, core or periphery, gets the Imperial governmental services they are guaranteed under the Imperial constitution.

Development and infrastructure investments pay off handsomely, boosting the economies of Nowa Warszawa, Calliope IV, Nowy Slask, and New Capricorn. An HPG station attached to the Silver Tower in Nya Kopenhamn has also come online, further improving your comms network.

A visibly frustrated Jake reports that only a few Delegates were moved by his presentations and attempts to sway the politicians to the Crown’s side. It will be a long, hard slog to get the Chamber to be even half as friendly and helpful as the Imperial Senate. Then again, there’s no Eldest to whip the Chamber into shape.

A theoretical basis for a Sector system of governance has been fully developed. If and when Imperial growth is such as to justify such, sectors will be established. Currently you don’t have enough worlds under your control to fully justify such, as you’d really have only the one sector.

The new Logistics facility is fully operational on Nowy Slask. The massive warehouse complex will allow for more efficient centralization of logistics operations, giving you a valuable resource in the near center of your growing Empire.

Having Drac vessels in museums would be really cool, but right now our allies want them and it costs us nothing to humor them. Also, I don't think many people will appreciate those dropships right now (Castor was devastated... what? 20 turns ago? That translates into 20 years?), and there will be future opportunities to capture more before the conflict comes to an end.

An Achilles might effectively be a more expensive Defiant (if I'm remembering right), but it's still the IS gold standard. So a decent export level design. Given our allies do need more firepower, it's a good idea to let them have the dropships so they can be used properly. A much better choice than showing them off to our people so they can see how much stronger than the Dracs we've become.
