[X] Balanced - Spread forces across all continents and rely on surface transportation assets to adjust deployments as Drac intentions become clear

[X] Approve.

[X] Change orders: fishhook around Drac force, trailing them in but refusing engagement until the Griffin's Roost ASF wings join the fight.
- [X] Stop shit-talking the Dracs

[X] Focus on defending the factories - With them in play we can recover from any harm the enemy inflicts on us
The factories, by design, are close to most of the important centers of population and industry, so if we defend them we also chose to defend our economic base as a whole. This also allows us to concentrate larger forces to counter substantial Kuritan landings rather than be spread out all over the place.

These are the very kind of people who don't give a damn about the Ares Conventions on a good day, and we are out in the middle of nowhere, far away from any condemning eyes. Don't give the bushido-hands jerk with the hair trigger temper an excuse to play with WMDs that we cannot counter.

I'd also like to remind people that... we have a map. With grid coordinates. Excatly for the purpose of visualizing this kind of scenario.

Sorry about starting that - my intent was that if anything was done about that in-universe, it would be as unofficial designations talked about in wardrooms and in the command center, but not official designations. Note that my preference for the initial response was purely based on their violation of the armistice.

Turn 37 - This Is War

The outgoing Defiant squadron arcs around, on course to curve in behind the incoming invasion force and follow it in. It’s a superb tactic, as it will force the Drac pilots to either remain on constant alert, thus massively degrading their effectiveness by the time they arrive, or be vulnerable to the much faster assault dropships slashing in on them unprepared.

You are quite proud of yourself.

Until another alert comes in on the deep space surveillance network. Another jump signature has been detected. A quartet of Star Lords have jumped in to the Nadir point and deploy another two dozen dropships which start thrusting in at the same 2g rate. This force has been identified as a mix of Triumphs, Condors, and a mix of previously identified Union-CVs and Unions. This is quite obviously the intended garrison force, intended to occupy the planet after the main strike force, now designated Alpha, reduces your defenses.

You hate competent opponents who split their forces in a rational manner, thus forcing you to choose your poison.

Then Sarah really ruins your day. There are two Monoliths that had been previously identified in the prior raids who have not yet been seen. The enemy still has more reserves, in a worst case scenario.

You are coming to hate that word, reserves.

Then the incoming force broadcasts again, that same damn fully armored and masked Kurita in 100% full samurai get up that is far more accurate than any damn Kuritan has any right to be. “Surrender or your pathetic planet will be crushed beneath the fury and might of the glorious Dragon. You have no chance for victory. Resist, and the Dragon will unleash its wrath upon your worthless people and crush you with no mercy. For the Glory and Honor of House Kurita!”

This is broadcast from every single dropship that is incoming, denying you intelligence on just where their commander is.

I wonder if the Dracs actually have the forces to spare on such remote world, or is this a gigantic bluff? Because let's face it, if the dropships are "filled" with Mechs and ASF then that sort of force deployment would be appropriate for major action on the Lyrian / FedSun border, not a provincial world in the ass-end of nowhere...

Edit: 50 dropships in initial wave, plus 24 more in second group. 74 dropships worth of "filler" not present on actually important borders...

Yep the only way I could see this large of force being deployed is the Dracs via some method have determined what exactly we are producing in terms of Lostech and that we are making more production facilities for it and researching it to boot. Otherwise deploying such a force isn't worth it since it will cost the Dracs at least several planets to the Suns and Lyrans

Wakashudo was the 'way of adolescent boys' of the samurai, where prepubescent boys were apprenticed to older samurai to learn, martial skills and life skills, and often led to a sexual relationship between the two.

Yes, when it comes to buggery the samurai were much like the British Royal Navy...
(Sake instead of rum, no idea 'bout the lash though...)

Wow. This is effectively a major offensive from a Successor State - unless some of this comes from factories discovered on the way around, Operation Bakkusutabu is a force that could well have taken several planets on either front, and 92 collars-worth of jumpships is a non-trivial bite out of their jumpship capacity. Makes me wonder if this contributed to the old Coordinator's demise?

That said, unless the secondary force has any Lostech, our ASFs technically outrange anything they would have. Unfortunately, we can't really spare anything from the initial clash.

-[X] "You will try. You will fail. The peoples you have enslaved will be free."

I would like to try and send some forces out to skirmish with the second incoming group, but I don't think we can afford to. Their composition doesn't look like they have much firepower, and Enhanced PPCs do outrange everything we know they have, but we need to concentrate everything for the first engagement. I am tempted to send out the Confederate to poke holes in the helium jackets of the Nadir jumpship force, though...

Also, we're in the middle of the 3rd Succession War. How can the Kuritans divert such a major force without the other houses jumping them? Either we've been monitored the whole time by some stealthy platforms in the outer system or something is way off here, because even with the shared events this here is overkill against any ordinary deep periphery single system polity!
