Cowboy Bebop

It may change I have only seen the frist 5 epsodies right now.

I do like how they expanded on Julia. Her actions make me actually care about the character instead her being a set piece mainly for Spikes actions. Which is fine since not every character needs a full back story especially in a show that has limited screen time. But I think that expaned role does add some interesting parts to Syndicate plotlines.

Spike and Faye interaction have been great so far. Along with Spike and Jet me the main three characters definitely feel like the original anime ones.

Also while not perfect I personally at least the producers tried to keep the main spirit of the anime in the live action version. The looks are done well with the fight scenes being the same dance stlye from the anime. The main character's actions and interactions feel like they did in the anime while all the villains and side character's are recognizable.

They may not have nailed everything but so far I am leaning that the hate it outsized for the actually show.
Part of your problem is that your opinion of the show is so drastically different from its detractors, to the point of being almost the complete opposite of theirs on every point you brought up, that you may as well have watched a completely different show. There's simply no common ground to be had; and to dismiss their criticisms as being "outsized" does nothing but invite them to dismiss you as being delusional.

Maybe, but how many are just going off a Youtube review instead of watching. In general there seems to have been a decent size crowd that hated the show before the frist promo hit the airwaves. This isn't even a 2016 Ghostbusters mess where the actors went after fans because the frist ad was horrible and they changed everything. The Bebop actors have generally spouted the basic PR statments from what I have seen and short promos where decent with 80 percent or more of the show closely following the anime.

The show has flaws but the group painting it as the wrost thing ever made are doing so for other reasons outside of the shows actual qualities. Which is fine but at least be honest about the reasons for disliking like you are.

Fair enough; but there are people who legitimately despise the show on its own merits, and not just because of the politics involved. Some of those Youtube videos go into excruciating detail describing every way in which the show fails, and from the perspective of someone who didn't watch the show (because why would I watch something I'm already opposed to existing on principle) they seem to have legitimate complaints. I suppose this is just another example of my long-held belief that there is no such thing as objective quality when it comes to entertainment media; it's all a matter of perspective.

Except for the actress playing Faye, anyway.

No, fans are attacking it for specific reasons, and at least in the reviews I've seen, they'll give you those specific reasons and explain why it upsets them, and I happen to agree with them. Changes were made which fundamentally alter characters and their stories, and from what you've said, the reason you don't seem to understand this is that you actually like at least one of those changes, irrespective of what it means for that character and how this altered the story. My own impression is that this live-action show does not respect the original, and instead is a pathetic attempt at imitating it while making changes in an attempt to "fix" something that was already a masterpiece. Even outside of that, this show is not terribly well written and has some pretty serious cringe. "Qualities." Ha!

You know, it's fine liking trash -I even like some myself- but that doesn't make the trash good.

I haven't seen anything do you have a link?

Overall Faye and Spike are the same along with most of the side characters.

Really so far the biggest change I have seen is to Jet. They added an ex-wife into the mix but I don't think it really changed his character. They still have the the whole betrayal plotline and Jet interactions with the other crew are similar enough it is hard to tell the difference from the anime. So Jet's motivation, actions and life are the same expect for a small running joke about a doll and 2 minute scene at the ex-wifes house.

Julia has been a bit expanded on but she was mainly just a McGuffin in the anime. But they took her and she still fundamentally the same character just with more agency. I can see how someone could dislike it but overall she still is just a damsel in distress with a little bit more of an expaned backstory.

The bounties so far have been the same with the exo-terrorists and Teddy Bomber be the same level of weird from the anime.

As for not well written with serious levels of cringe. Not anymore then you find from most other shows. There is a whole lot less cringe then newer sci-fi classics like DS9 or nBSG. Also the anime had some cringey lines like with the Heavy Metal Queen episode.

The live action does tend to overuse humor and short quips but the original also did the same. The same goes with Spike's dramatic lines.

So overall I stand by rating of 5 to 6 out of ten making the show average to a bit above. It really depends on how the show deals with Ed if I change my rating of it.

But I would be interested in hearing what changes you disliked from when you watched the new version.

The thing is, I've recently started watching the show, and... to be honest as an avid fan of the original (Steve's Spike is always going to be my first voice to our favorite space cowboy), I liked it so far.

So, yeah, crucify me for it but yeah, I liked it. It's far better than most live-action adaptations I've seen. Kept quite a bit of the humor while mixing it up a bit (although, to be honest, the run time feels like it's the problem, not the show itself, the eps are 40 minutes long while the OVA's was barely 30).
In the Kingdom of the Blind.....

Naturally I wanted to know what Watanabe thought of the new live-action adaptation on Netflix, to which he had this to say.
“For the new Netflix live-action adaptation, they sent me a video to review and check. It started with a scene in a casino, which made it very tough for me to continue. I stopped there and so only saw that opening scene. It was clearly not Cowboy Bebop and I realized at that point that if I wasn’t involved, it would not be Cowboy Bebop. I felt that maybe I should have done this. Although the value of the original anime is somehow far higher now.”
