Fail because they cant hold back thr tide og Genestealers. They need the Wakandans just for the numbers.

Thanos didn't have the stones for most of the battle. So assume that Thanos starts the battle without them and having to face three Custodes (one being Valdor) like he had to face Cap, Thor and IM without the stones. And the remaining eighteen Custodes are at the possession of the stones under the orders to keep Thanos and Thanos' army from gaining access to them.
My mistake...I was thinking of their first confrontation when Thanos was 'stoned'. That's what I get for skimming the OP.
In this case...I still think Thanos takes them simply b/c he's primarch level by himself. Beat up Hulk without the help of the stones, though there may have been 'issues' with Hulk even at that point. Take any of them 1v1. I think he deals with them bout as well as he does with the Avengers Tri-Team.

Against the horde...the Custodes would slaughter them. Bolter fire would ruin them in droves and their power weapons would just dice them up to chum. Would face some difficulty with the 'Wheels of Doom' that burrowed in, but I think accurate bolter fire could take them apart. NOTHING Marvel as shown really replicates the SHEER violence of a bolter round. Tesseract weapons just vaporize one guy. A bolter shell will overpenetrate one dude (maybe two) then sink into another before turning that one into shrapnel to kill/maim what's around him.
I mean, if you want it to LOOK similar, bring in a Custodes Dreadnought to mirror Banner in the Hulkbuster suit, then you can kiss the Doomwheels goodbye.

It seems fairly likely they could pull off a win. The entire force in endgame was like a couple hundred people, the overwhelming majority of which where just dudes with guns or the like. Bucky had an entirely conventional machinegun and more than held his ground during both battles, a Custode armed with a vastly more powerful weapon should be more than capable of replacing dozens of other soldiers. The biggest issue is the ship and Thanos big stuff like the flying whale things. A bolter, even a beefed up Custodes bolter, does not have the punch to bring those down.
The most likely outcome I can see is the Custodes kill Thanos, most of his lieutenants, and a major chunk of his army but are eventually either overwhelmed by the hordes or the ship glasses the area. With Thanos dead there's no one left to use the stones, but if the stones survive the bombing whoever's left of Thano's forces will recover them.
The less likely senario is the custodes try to use the stones, which would probably work better for them. If Tony can withstand the force of holding them all long enough to fire off one last quip, it seems likely that a physically, genetically, and mentally superior custode would be able to do the same.
