Empire in and of itself is not bad it's all about the guiding ethos, ethics and how it's run.
I think that empires aren’t necessarily bad, depending on the empire and the alternatives to imperial rule, but in general it’s better for distinct groups of people with shared culture and history to have self autonomy. When multiple cultures and/or peoples exist within a single polity, one or more are often subjugated by others.

If an empire maintains peace among the various peoples who are part of the empire or the empire protects rights of those citizens better than independent nations would, then it could be reasonably argued that the empire is superior.

In the case of our modern first world empires, the left deliberately sets different cultures and subcultures against each other to increase their own power - which is one of the worst things that can happen in an empire.

Not only left,it is old soviet and, before that, tsar politics.
And it worked for them.Still working for Putin.

Considering that romans proverb say "divide and impera",i suspect, that it is much older tradition.

There are actually quite a few countries in the world that avoid a lot of nasty politics by giving different regions a high degree of autonomy.
Much better than an over-centralized, one-size-fits-all approach that leads to endless fighting over whose foot gets to be inside the jackboot that stomps on everyone else's faces.

Romans actually did precisely that, which is why their empire lasted for so long. It is hardly mutually exclusive with "divide et impera".

I agree. But divide at impera is easier. At least, for short term.

True.ERE last even longer, and would survived till our times,if they keep it.
