While that would make military sense and lower FedCom casualties this is battletech, if a mech fight is even remotely possible then it's going to happen.

With everyone capable thereof August Storming the Capellans and the FedCom prepping for Olympic/Downfall, the war of 56 seems to be heading towards the inevitable conclusion. Let's hope that the FedCom has a good plan for the aftermath. This being BattleTech, I fully expect it to blow up in their face anyway, but hopefully it won't be fatal.

Know what CurtisLemay has written up till now there won't be much plot armor, but the Federated Commonwealth even after losing Hanse and Melissa still has solid and inspired leadership with Victor and Katherine, with Omi working her way into the group as well as 'wildcard' Yvonne. Wonder what Peter and Arthur are up to :)

The Federated Commonwealth's worst issues as far as I can see them is over-extension and WOBies. They do have to handle the folks who may want to kill them with a thousand cuts (Clan Wolf, Clan Ghost Bear, Maybe Clan Diamond Shark, though they won't likely be 'gunning' for the FEDCOM, but if the Federated Commonwealth tries to push too hard...). FWL is always unstable, the Combine has gutted itself, Word of Blake (which is out for the FEDCOM) has the Chaos they were looking for but not in the way they were looking for.

At the end the only 'organized' and 'solid' foes are the Word of Blake and with their factions the 'organized' part is not as strong as it may seem...

The real problem for all is the oncoming Clan Civil war and the conflagration that it will unleash!

Been a great ride so far, is Yellow Hammer still working the Omi story-line?

Thank you!

Well, it can't go much worse than canon, now can it?

That said, I actually kinda/sorta/mostly agree. Having had a bit of a think on all this, I believe its now most likely that the Wobbies are going to be the biggest issue the FedCom will have in the near future. The FWL, is too busy with internals, and whatever leadership emerges, will eventually come to realize that they are just about the only power of any significance other than the FedCom that aren't a completely melted pile of slag.

As for the Clan Civil War, thankfully most of that will be happening on the Pentagon Worlds. I'm re-reading this at the moment, so I may mis-remember things, but from what I can recall, most of the Clan remnants in the IS are either pulling back home, going native, turning themselves into totally not successor states, or have been/are being stamped out. Long-term, the Clan threat depends on whatever emerges there, and that's going to be at least a generation or two down the line.

The Dracs are so deep down the hole, they're not even worth mentioning at the moment.

I think that the Combine situation is a little more complex than that, especially with Omi having the ear of the Feds. While the desintegration of their sworn enemy is a dream come true they will have plenty of reasons to at least stabilize the region to prevent a new agressive power taking hold.

Point... Still, it will be a while before they (the FedCom) are in any position to do anything. They have to absorb their Capellan and ex-Clan conquests, and they need to rebuild. Short of backing one faction or another with money and and supplies, there's not much they can do right now, as exhausted as they are/will be after the shitfest Sian will turn into.

Double post because some time has passed. I'm re-reading this thing and reached the part where the ilKhan is murdered. How bad is it going to go on the Pentagon Worlds?

I could see it going that bad, especially since it's an FFA...
