Not just that we are closer chronologically to Qin Shi Huang (First Emperor of a unified China) than he was to Egypt's Golden Age.
If you were to play a variation of "The Kevin Bacon Game" where the goal is to go as far back as you can through a path starting with you which only consists of people who have personally met I can get to Alexander the Great's father and part of the path includes an Egyptian dynasty.

I'd be surprised if someone Chinese could get to Qin Shi Haung.

China is still here though. Pharoahnic Egypt is not.
Egypt is more than the pharaohs though, the culture and people from the time of the pharaohs has endured all occupations and outside controls.

Like, there was never a loss of knowledge of history and continuity of civilization since the time of the Pharoahs, thanks to the Egyptian preists/scribes, the Ptolmey's, and the Coptics.

Hm.

In fairness, there is some continuity down the millennia. We know at least genetically modern Egyptians do have more than a few things in common with their ancient forebears, but I'm not so sure on the cultural or linguistic side.

Definitely not on the political though!

Edit: Having done a bit of research, there is a surprising amount of continuity. Though Pharonic Egypt is gone, Modern Egypt is most certainly an heir of sorts.

Yeah, it's hard to tell which civilization came first China or Egypt. Yet both have lost the grandeur of the past ancestors. For Egypt they don't have a Pharaoh anymore, even one acting as a constitutional monarch like England would raise their prestige. But Islam fucked them up, it is an arabic supremacist religion that replaces cultures.

As for China they got fucked hard in the 1800's because of Qing incompetence and douchebag european colonists. The Qing had to go, but maybe they should have put a new emperor or dynasty on the throne even as a constitutional monarch, over 2000 years of monarchy should not be abandoned. Also then the commies came to power and Mao tried to wipe out their own history. I don't know if the modern chinks are still trying to follow in those footsteps, or maybe they just make mouth noises about liking Mao while doing everything he would have hated. But meh.

Compared to China which has....
Uh...
Yeah embellished things and claim things they never actually had
There's a reason why China's neighbours tend to dislike the Chinese with lots of viterol.

When the USSR was aiding North Vietnam the Chinese stole most of the aid sent by rail. The Soviets essentially said "fuck this shit" and started sending stuff to North Vietnam by ship because the worst thing the USN would do to a Soviet cargo ship would be to inspect it for "safety reasons" an tell her Captain to try again later.

Ethiopia looks at both China and Egypt and says what am I chopped Liver? I am mentioned multiple times in the Bible.
Given there were Ethopian Pharaohs, Ethopia should be viewed as another child of the Pharaohs, same as Egypt, even if they have diverged a bit over time as they kept their independence.

I do not think the Greeks ever took over Ethopia, unlike the areas near the Delta and Sinai.

I know that the dam projects on the Nile are causing a lot of tensions, and the CCP have been poking their fingers around over there.

I read ,that when british moved mummies of pharaons on Nile in 19th century, muslim peasants from all villages there gather to mourn them.Forget book and author,as usual.
And - there were nubian pharaos, not ethiopians.Although some ethiopians kings could be descendents of them - or not.

Ethiopia looks at both China and Egypt and says what am I chopped Liver? I am mentioned multiple times in the Bible.
And for good reasons.Pity, that they never developed as western nation. We could blame on their church,i think.
If i were better writer,i would create TL where ethiopians becomed catholics, welcomed benedictan monks, and later cisterians and jesuits.
With Ethiopian becoming superpower as a result.

It is the poking a dog with a stick situation. If you keep poking a dog eventually it will snap back at you.
If you poke too hard you might get an angry dragon instead of a sleepy dog.

During the 80s "drop the fish" might have resulted in about 40 torpedoes that really want to give a propeller an explosive hug being in the water within seconds.

If they can get Russians to agree to accept Yuan instead of dollars thats a massive win for them.
Just gonna point out there is no gas pipeline that connects Russia to China. There is an oil pipeline. But Oil and Gas Pipelines are two different animals altogether. And they would have to deliver such gas by either rail or tanker. Both having risks in doing so and adding in more costs. And given the size of Eurasia I would say a lot of cost.

Even with this if Russia accepts chinese money for oil and gas then that is a massive win for china.

Because the chinese have been printing money far worse then any one else, not even the chinese want their currency. Hence all of the weird stuff the chinese rich do to get any of their cash out of the country. If they get the Russians to accept their much weaker currency for oil. That means they get it at a pretty nice discount and get something that's highly valued in exchange for something that isn't.

Even if what they get is sportatic its still getting hard goods for a weak currency.

They need water more than oil. They literally need water more.

That's true for most countries but if you can get a deal on your oil thats still good for you as a country.

If your spending less money on one resource you can spend more money some where else. Though right now looking at it I think china's fucked on the water front, and a lot of other issues because of the CCP.

Thats an issue I think a successor government will solve.
