Of course. Propaganda layer PR is one thing now, but here's what is left, at least in the case of government - the Taliban may be USA's enemy, but in the end USA is far away from Afghanistan, while China is going to have them and any mess their create on a little bit of its land border, with the Xinjiang province, its Muslim population, and the controversies involved at that.
Time for input from our favorite duo at ADV China

And yes for those who might think to the contrary. China is not as top notch as you may think. They are BS Masters.

Basically, China knows firsthand how much damage treacherous rogue billionaires and 'post-nationalist' ideologues can inflict upon a nation. because the only reason they got so powerful in the first place is because of the treason of American rogue billionaires and post-ideologues sending our entire manufacturing industry abroad to them.

Consequentially, their whole authoritarian system is set up around preventing a repeat performance.
Baron Vladimir Harkonnen said:
Never trust a traitor. Not even one you created.
But then again, the sinophile plutocrats who want to recreate China's authoritarianism domestically aren't in it for the good of the country as a whole, they don't want to fix problems, insofar as they're the cause of said problems, they want to censor if not outright criminally persecute people for noticing and complaining about said problems.

No video games for you.

Ironically, this is one of the simplest ways to make the younger generation hate them. I expect the Chinese version of 'Okay boomer' to massively intensify in popularity.

They want to toughen them up for war I bet.
"Don't worry, Li," Chang said, coughing up and spitting out another mouthful of blood. "I'll just respawn back at the landing craft."

Li looked down at Chang impatiently. "Yeah, bro: Make sure you get the RPG-1 this time. That fucking Taiwanese bunker!"

Chang blinked: Though his vision was dimming, he still managed to look Li in the eyes. "Do I even have the Russia DLC?"

"Nah," Li replied, shrugging. "Higher ups just stole a case from some Russian guy's collection, copied it, and called it the Type 71a. At least they don't explode in your face." Li began to chuckle. "Man, Su is going to be pissed when she finally respawns."

There was a sudden zip, ping, and a twitch from Li, and he slumped on top of Chang, blood leaking from the bullet hole in his forehead.

"Man, I gotta get that on a repla--"

Somehow, I don't think it'd go as China intends to, lol.

Recently China basically outlawed private tutoring industry, limited homework to 1.5 hour/day, and abolished exams for 6 and 7 year-old children.

They want to limit the race to have a perfect child but instead raise the birth rate.

“Too frequent exams ... which cause students to be overburdened and under huge exam pressure,” have been axed by the Chinese Ministry of Education, new guidelines released yesterday said.

Late last month, China ordered all private tutoring firms to turn non-profit, and barred tutoring agencies from giving lessons in core subjects at weekends and holidays, effectively crippling a US$100 billion sector.

The ministry also banned written homework for Grade 1 and 2 students earlier this year, and limited homework for junior-high students to no more than 1.5 hours per night.

Well say what you want about China this does seem like it be good for the kids don’t know if this was exactly the best way to do it but lowering the kids stress level and letting them actually have holidays though making the tutoring non profit seems silly

It's a move that certainly suprised me. Even in democratic East Asian countries, Japan, South Korea - it's pretty much... cultural value to torture children with the most intensive education imaginable. I wouldn't expect Xi to decide otherwise, that's interesting and radical in a very weird direction.

Oh its not about the children's well being at all. Looking at the details, it seems like the party wants to tone down the competition for merit based educational opportunities as far as parent's money spending goes, in hope that if the parents won't be allowed to spend so much money for it on one child, they will consider having more children instead.
Probably not gonna work like intended though.

The chinese culture is one of the most egoistic and shallow possible. Whatever they can affort to not spend on their future money-maker, they waste on shiny bitz to impress their neighbours.
