Over a decade after the Coronavirus and the fallout from that, China is in desperate straits. The CCP is taken over from within by the most radical members, to launch a desperate last gambit. They will not fade away and collapse like the Soviet Union did, no: China will fight and win, or die.
China therefore comes up with a plan: Utilizing six secretly constructed cyber warfare and jamming ships (built as large supertanker-style vessels to disguise their true purpose), combined with a massive military build up and diversionary tactics, they prepare for the right time. And it comes: Thanks to Chinese pushes in the right places, full on war breaks out between Pakistan and India. The US Navy commits much of its fleet to prevent ICBMs from being used, which allows China to make their move:
Using North Korea's manpower, they invade Taiwan, South Korea, and the Phillippines. Thanks to their remaining agents in the West, they're able to mount numerous cyber and space satellite attacks to slow the US response. Their Battlespace Domination Ships are a key part of this. Their attacks mount, and in one instance a American carrier battlegroup's squadron of UCAVs are taken over and turned against the fleet to devastating effect. GPS and much of SATCOM is disabled or unreliable for the American, Taiwan, South Korean, UK, Australian, Canadian and Japanese fleets. Only direct line of sight control of missiles and drones is unjammable. This turns what should be a sure win for the US into a slug fest.
Which is the Chinese plan: Make the war something the US cannot afford to deal with, between the Indian/Pakistan War and Russia taking advantage of the chaos to threaten Europe.
In the midst of this, a lone US Littoral Combat Ship (Upgraded considerably), the USS Pronghorn (named for a town in Oregon) is separated from its carrier battle group after a battle. It finds a Japanese Corvette trying to protect a Korean fishing boat from a Chinese frigate, and they manage to disable the Chinese ship but the Japanese ship is sunk.
They board it and find the location of one of the Chinese Battlespace Domination Ships... and the three crews hatch a crazy plan. To use the Chinese frigate as a trojan horse, to get to the BDS ship, towing the Pronghorn behind it as a war prize. They close in... Then launch an alpha strike of every missile the Pronghorn has. Along with a few from the sunken Japanese ship. The BDS has lasers and other defenses, but one missile gets through and cripples it. The Pronghorn goes at flank speed, firing its remaining weapons furiously at the jammer ship's escorts. Trying to buy time for reinforcements.
The Pronghorn is hit, the captain orders abandon ship...
"Time for Operation Last Act of Freaking Defiance!"
And then... The angels appear. US Navy aircraft, from the USS Enterprise. They'd found the BDS and were going to take it out the old fashioned way: With air strikes from every aircraft they had. The Pronghorn had made it infinitely easier, and the escorts of the BDS are sunk. The tide of the war in this region has turned... Thanks to the crazy crews of three ships, on a tiny warship regarded as a joke.
The war isn't over... But they have some heroes to lead the way.
