God, this reminds me of that Star Trek fic on SB wherein the American President alongside much of the world at the time all decided AGAINST giving aid against the USSR and pointed out how the Soviets have killed WAY MORE Jews and other people than the Nazi's the Soviets keep on going on about having fought alongside together against
Soviet President got angry when the call for aid was refused, was angry because they were told it's their fault and not to try the Nazi/fascist accusation again

I just love how antifa and their fellow travelers tried to emulate this little Nation LARP down in Portland and got shut down by the mayor there. Turns out they tried setting it up across the street from HIS home, so of course, the police were ordered to arrest and disperse their asses real quick.
The only reason that Seattle managed to pull this level of buffoonery off is that none of the City Council or Mayor actually live anywhere near the downtown core or Capital Hill.
The overwhelming opinion of Washington state residents who don't live in the counties that have Puget Sound shoreline is that the best way to deal with Seattle is to pull an ancient Gondor and wall off Mordor-On-Elliott-Bay from the rest of the state.

Given that I think they’ve tried spreading to small towns or rural areas before, well I can understand why anybody would decide trying to do a wall against their own fellow countrymen or fellow state-citizens
Urbanites outnumber rurals for one, so if they do a riot, they could end up massacring said rurals

Washington (and Oregon) are divided states. The West side, centering on the major cities, are nearly pure democrats, the East side and the rural towns are pure republican. That this means is that even the cops are republican, as are the elected officials. There's also quite a bit of resentment about being republican in a "blue state" and having to clean up their mess.
Do you have any idea how many "armed groups" are in Washington and Oregon? Local law enforcement wouldn't do anything to arrest these locals, you'd need to bring in either the state or federal police to actually force an arrest against the will of local law-enforcement, probably feds because the state patrols are under-staffed just patroling the highways.
It would be a really tough sell.

There's are multiple towns in Oregon that are dominated by preppers. Coeur d'Alene, just over the Idaho border with Washington, was the location of the Aryan Nation movement. The PNW is where people who say things like "they will have to take my gun from my cold dead hands" go to settle down. Homeschooling is already very popular with people like that, and it would be hard to force school attendance in the middle of a pandemic.

The thing that really concentrated the political power in the hands of King County and the Democratic party on the state level was the Growth Management Act. That allowed King County, Snohomish County and to a lesser extent Pierce County to concentrate all future economic growth that was commercial and industrial based into primarily those three counties. This led to lots and lots of out of state folks moving into those areas. Now it's gotten to where King County has enough Democratic voters to determine the statewide offices of Governor on down. The rest of the state has to vote at least 98 percent pure Republican to outvote King County. Now when you add in the 'mysteriously lost' ballot boxes from a solidly Democratic Seattle voting precinct whenever a political race looks like it might actually be a 50/50 toss-up? Yeah, Eastern and Southwest Washington counties would love to be our own state and free of the Commissars.
Sadly, Idaho especially the non-desert parts in the panhandle, have been receiving a steady influx of Californians selling out and fleeing north to spread that special Californian wokeness. The Aryan Nations got bankrupted and lost their compound, and turned into such a clown show they got nicked named the 'Sturmpoopers'.
With Oregon, I've heard that much like Washington, the liberals pretty much stick to within the University enclaves and the Willamette valley.

It doesn't matter if these guys are armed or not and if it's incredibly hard, risky and impractical to do

I hadn't known about the Growth Management Act, that's very interesting. I know some people in Idaho, it sucks that the Californians have to ruin everything there too. There's a mass migration of them going on, though from I've heard it's mostly due to the state being too expensive and not because of ideological concerns. You are right about Oregon though, it's basically just like Washington, except perhaps more so. Even within the valley there are a lot of conservative pockets, not surprising since the lower valley was still very much a group of farming communities the last time I was there.
