Bret Weinstein's Dream Team

On a Joe Rogan Podcast, Bret Weinstein put forward his dream team of who should run for president, that being

1) William McRaven

2) Andrew Yang

The point where he made this suggestion is helpfully exerted in this youtube video, bellow.

What are people's thoughts on this?

My initial response to this suggestion, along with much of the talk was "what problem does he think he's solving with this? This is why Eric is at least somewhat interesting to listen to".

I have no knowledge of substance about McRaven, but I can say that any ticket that includes Yang, I don't want anywhere near the budget or treasury.

I think the problem he's looking to solve is 'make centrists feel comfortable.'

Putting someone with fringe-left economic ideas on the ticket won't do that. I respect that Yang treats non-leftists like human beings, and I could probably get along decently well with him. But UBI would destroy the economy and cause a crime wave, so I don't want him anywhere near the power to actually implement it.

I actually like listening to Bret Weinstein... at least as far as I've only really seen him on Joe Rogan podcasts which interest me.

In regards to this idea though it sounds like another random idea along the lines of having a moderate/bipartisan candidacy that can bring the country together and pull us in from the fringes or political extremes. It's a nice sounding idea but even if I bought it I find the choice of Admiral McRaven as a very... random choice. At the very least it'll probably alienate all of thos disaffected Trump voters which IMHO would torpoedo the idea right from the beginning.

Not too long ago, Thomas Friedman, whose about as milquetoast establishment as you can get (though he's kind of an interesting thinker in the vein of the wise Neighbor stereotype or something) where he had some NYT column titled "Dems: You Can Defeat Trump in a Landslide" and proposed his fanficy Lincolnish 'Team of Rivals' dream team cabinet.

Now keep in mind, this was written a while ago so Thomas Friedman assumed that either Michael Bloomberg or Bernie Sanders were in his opinion the most likely nominees. So he wanted one to become President, and the runner up to become the Secretary of Treasury. So I'll choose the most entertaining combination.

President:
Michael Bloomberg

Vice President:
Amy Klobuchar

Treasury:
Bernie Sanders

State:
Joseph Biden

Defense:
William H. McRaven

Attorney General:
Kamala Harris

Health & Human Services:
Elizabeth Warren

Housing & Urban Development:
Cory Booker

Labor:
Ro Khanna

Education:
Michael Bennett

Commerce:
Mitt Romney

National Infrastructure (BRAND NEW CABINET POSITION):
Tom Steyer

UN Ambassador:
Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez

A true 'Team of Rivals' that would truly ensure at least re-enacting one part of Lincoln's legacy... the country plunging into Civil War as soon as he's elected. 😇
