So the Playstation exclusive gameplay trailer for God of War: Ragnarok, the sequel to the much well regarded God of War 2018 game, has been released.



So it looks pretty cool. I see Kratos is still grappling with his past and really not wanting war with Asgard. Freya still seems pissed about things. Loki is a growing lad who seems to be a bit ignorant of what War can bring. There are actual villages with people it seems to explore now instead of the quasi-apocalyptic kind of world we explored in the last game that just had monsters in it for the most part. I see bauriar Centaur types enemies as well as Slaad Frog enemies as well as other assorted beasts and monsters.

Also I love how all of these Warrior Gods seem to have dramatically different builds, perhaps based on their mythological descriptions and how they perceived strong warrior types. Kratos is obviously built like a Graeco-Roman bodybuilder... but Thor and ZOMG IS THAT TYR?!?!?!

Well that was certainly an interesting trailer and-

Not bothered by Thor's weight issues, how many times was he described as a fat stupid oaf in the prior game after all. Not liking the exposed belly but that's just squick. The girl is the mother of monsters, I'm not even going to try to write out that name, the race bending is a whatever.

My biggest question is whether they will have Kratos hooking up with Tyr or have Kratos humiliated and killed off early in the game so Atreus and the new girl can do a duo adventure to end out the norse setting.

I honestly feel all of this Angrboda outrage is misplaced and perhaps a result of latent racism in gamer culture. At best, we should at least take a 'wait and see' approach in regards to this character and the implied tokenism.

It's noteworthy that one of the Dwarf blacksmiths in the previous God of War game turned blue because of all of the metalsmithing he engaged in. Perhaps there is an explanation for why a Jotun whose been described as red haired, is now a young looking, seemingly Black Woman.

Maybe it's a cunning subversion and she was cursed into the form of a waifish black girl? Her true form is a mighty whitey Ginger Giantess with a Millenia of resentment being trapped in her current dare I say... INFERIOR form? Therefore it's an important plot point that she hides her Blackened White Rage under a veneer of cheerful innocence but it's only a gambit to free her from her torment. Partway through the game she'll achieve her final true form, that of a big, bold, beautiful red haired, fair skinned woman of (fair) color and plan the destruction of the Aesir worshipping Midgardians in order to save Giant/Jotun Kind. This in turn will force Kratos to confront her much in the same way they had to confront Freya late in the last game and probably brutally kill her. But it'll be okay because she's a powerful White giantess woman, not some young Black girl.
