Imma gonna need me some of these smoothbore AR-15's.

Ugh, this myth needs to die. Even when M16s had 1 in 12 rifling, those projectiles only tumbled after impact, not before. And modern 1 in 7 inch rifled barrels firing heavier projectiles get enough penetration to reliably get to major organs anyway. There's nothing magical about tumbling bullets, especially if you like hitting what you're aiming out.

Yeah. They use oval-profile rifling which doesn't have distinct lands or grooves, which technically counts as smoothbore and therefore is classified as a shotgun. And since the laws on shotguns are much less restrictive than semiautos...

Is that polygonal rifling or something else?

Here's a Ukrainian bullpup that I would absolutely buy if it was available in the US:

Magna Ballista is a gas operated firearm with a piston located above the barrel. The action lockup is accomplished via rollers. Note that the rollers here are merely locking lugs (like in the MG42 machine gun), they are not a part of a blowback delay mechanism like in HK G3 or MP5. In other words, Magna Ballista is a roller locked, not roller delayed blowback firearm.

The charging handle of the rifle is reversible. The gun has a cross-bolt safety. The cheek rest area of the upper receiver is reinforced to protect the shooter in case of a catastrophic failure. Additionally, the rifle is designed to vent the gasses down into the magazine in case of a kaboom.

Magna lists the following caliber options for the Ballista rifle: 9x21mm, 5.56x45mm, 7.62x35mm (.300 Blackout), 7.62x51mm, 7.62x54mmR .338 Lapua Magnum, .510 Whisper and 12.7x55mm. The latter is the cartridge used in Russian VKS Vykhlop and ShAK-12 suppressed bullpup rifles. The version in 7.62x54R is apparently fed from SVD magazines. I am not sure how efficient it will be to chamber a gun like this in a pistol caliber … I assume the 9x21mm is included in the list to show the caliber conversion capabilities of this weapon system.

At least you people have the possibility of getting new guns down there.

I've been stuck with my crossbow/machete combo for a long time (and I probably will be until Canada merges with you guys).

That's... interesting. They're going with a roller-locked system when everyone and his dog designs their guns with rotating-bolt locks. I wonder if there's an advantage there for a multi-caliber firearm.

Visited a gun store, they had a fucking FN P90, a real one (I don't know if there's much of a market for knock-offs of that model). $1600. I was pretty shocked. Both that they had it at all, and that it was that cheap. Maybe the gun market's turning around?🤞

That's the usual price. I don't think it got the same amount of price inflation that other types of guns did, simply because it was already so expensive relative to everything else.
