TLDR : Santa Muerte / "Holy Death" is NOT the Patron saint of drug traffickers.

The video is from the same ATFs that can't dissemble a gun properly. I can watch a video about a basic 1911 and probably I can do a better job than them.

And I am Italian and Brazilian. You know, two places you don't associate with gun knowledge.

So I’ve been having an issue with a Mauser c96 red 9 that’s come into my possession.

Basically, the gun works perfectly well except for the fact that after a shot is fired, the gun cycles perfectly…if it wasn’t for the fact that when I pull the trigger, the next round won’t fire. I have to pull the bolt back slight and then the round chambers correctly and will fire.

I’m at a bewilderment at what’s wrong. From my attempts at research, it’s either a lock/block issue, the springs needing to be replaced, the springs needing to be worn in or I am limp-wristing it.

I’ve tried replacing the bolt locking block- doesn’t seem to have changed a thing.

I replaced the firing pin with a modern recreation, which seems to maybe have had some slight effect- at the very least the old one seemed to have been slightly shorter, so that probably needed to be fixed anyway. (I still have the original, I’m not dumb).

Springs are the next thing I try to mess around with. If that doesn’t work, and I will try not to limp-wrist it, assuming that’s even an issue to being with, I’m gonna try to get it professionally fixed.

Bear in mind that I don’t have any metal working tools, and even if I did, I would be extremely unlikely to try and modifications on my own because I don’t trust my own competence.

My first instinct is to say the springs need replacement with that symptom as long as you verified it's not a 'limp-wrist' issue.
Don't bother with mods as a fix unless some mods were already made to the pistol. Then going back to factory spec would by my other recommendation.

Well, both the springs were replaced when I first got the gun, so it might be the springs not being 'worn in' yet. As the feed issue has obviously made firing the gun a bit of an annoyance. There's also the cost of ammunition and range time as well.

So I might have the gun at it's 'loading' stage for a little bit this week, which will compress the mainspring. Not much I can do about the firing spring unless I want to basically dry fire the gun over and over. Which seems unwise.

I am somewhat sure it's not a limp-wristeing problem, as a friend of mine who's National Guard and not a scrawny dude had the same issue I had.

If it cycles fine but trigger doesn't work, could be an issue with the fire control group or sear?
Possibly, but the gun was supposably looked over. Also the trigger does work, it just doesn't do anything when pulled in that particular situation. And everything seems to be working correctly, as best as I can tell.

Attempt to not limp-wrist. Have a good high grip on it, choke the top of the grip. The slide mechanism of the guns should nearly dig in if not dig into your hand.

If it still doesn't work then get it looked

Might be spring wear-in as you think, as that seems to fit the symptoms best if you've eliminated limp-wristing. It could be a timing or headspace issue as well, if the bolt is trying to cycle to battery before completing extraction of the next round. If the spring wear-in doesn't solve it bring it to a gunsmith for a full teardown and check.

That reminds me, also check the magazine, if the follower spring is weakening it might not be putting enough pressure on the round to feed properly

I don't think it's the spring, as i did try to replace that and it doesn't seem to have changed anything. Still, i appreciate the advice and will keep it in mind.
