In all fairness, the more the Ukrainians push the Russians back the more I think Putin might pull the trigger. Better to have and not need than need and not have.
Depends on how egotistical he is. Only a true egoist would push the button, it's the ultimate power trip, the final revenge of a dying man against a cruel world that refuses to recognize your genius.

He is kgb, which mean that he is psychopath. He would not start war as long as he could keep power, but,if somebody try that, then we would burn world.

The Question isn't if Putin will push the button, but if the Soldier in the silo will push the button.
This.

And I bet that even Russian military nuke chain of command (+ other ruling factions in Russia) are not willing to get their country and families evaporated in nuclear retaliation just because Vladolf Putler had a tantrum due to not getting his mighty epic swan song of being the next Peter the Great and restoring Russia to greater power status with his vanity wars of conquest, and instead has a legacy of becoming Vlad the Loser who further destroyed his empire into irrelevancy.

he is KGB.
if he needs to, he would give them a video call showing a gun being held to their wife and tell them to push the button or else. KGB knows intimidation tactics.
that or made sure the people poster there have no family and are psychopaths slavering for blood.

also, only one silo/nuclear sub needs to fire.
once one fires it transforms the situation from "if I fire my family probably dies" to "they are firing at us and my family is doomed. I might as well fire too to get some payback"

What he conveniently leaves out there, is that he doesn't actually possess the ability to expunge their records. Meaning that this action won't actually do what he's trying to claim.

Actually, yes it will. The only difference between a pardon and an expungement is that the pardon still leaves the charge or conviction on the person's record. It does, however, restore voting, remove the "no felony convictions" requirements for licensing, etc.

However.

It *only* applies to "simple possession of marijuana" charges, not other drugs. So if, say, someone got hit with two simple possession charges (one for marijuana and one for cocaine), it still leaves the cocaine charge in place.

Moreover, the feds don't have many people locked up just for simple possession of marijuana, either -most of the offenders are guys who are drug kingpins and the like who are in for multiple charges.

Whether it's a good idea or not is another story. It's pretty much him trying to boost his popularity by DOING SOMETHING rather than addressing the issues people care about (which include crime so I'm not really convinced this will impress swing voters).

That's full up wrong.
