It's a thing I've noticed with leftists.

Being leftist is the number one thing in their life.

Everything else is just kind of a filler description to give the various NPCs some character.

If something leftist conflicts with the core tenants of something descriptive about them, like their religion, the religion loses. It's not as important.

Social justice is a cult, and cults can be very unhealthy things.

I'm betting it was a different country, b/c the country being notified contacted the FBI about what was happening, at least as far as I could determine from the article.

I don't think China or Russia would need nuclear secrets such a relatively low level engineer would have no? Those 2 nations have a lot of decent nuclear expertise. Maybe someone in the ME who thought the good graces of the Pentagon was worth more than whatever he was offering?

China is having issues with their subs being loud, so is NK and likely Iran (if they even have any nuke boats).

Knowing how the reactor works also lets them figure out what sort of noise profile it makes, so they can hunt our stuff easier.

This cpuple wasn't selling the keys to Fort Knox, but they could definitely get subs sunk that didn't have to be.

Actually, submarine tech is probably the most sensitive of all government secrets, so, yes they actually WERE effectively giving away the keys. And the article says that it wasn’t just reactor related information.

At a minimum, I’d say probably France, Israel, Brazil, or Turkey. *Possibly* India, Taiwan, South Korea or Japan, but I think those are much less likely. The first because India is also occasionally cozy with Russia and is as much of an ally of convenience as a friend; the second because 1) I don’t think they’re interested in an SSN program at this time beyond spitballing 2) Pissing off the Americans right now in particular would be suicide, and 3) If it wound up in China’s hands -and the ROC is pretty heavily penetrated- it’d be even more dire; the latter two because while they’re pursuing SSN programs, using stolen American data would have very nasty consequences if they were found out.

France is iffy because they aren’t above that sort of thing, but even with the hissy fit they threw over AUKUS, it’s almost certain to result in an even more severe backlash if they fucked around. Israel is more land and air power; their navy is basically for coastal defense. Brazil I think has some interest, and I know Argentina definitely has expressed interest in an SSN program, but they both (Argentina more so) would be in massive deep shit with the U.S. Both are Major Non-NATO Allies (so they get all sorts of goodies and such that most countries can’t), and fucking around with the crown jewels of American military secrets is a sure fire way to get it revoked.

Incidentally, keep in mind that for all the U.S. and Britain already share stuff, we and they DON’T share submarine info beyond certain things like Trident. The British keep their sonar and surveillance gear to themselves, and we do much the same with our reactor tech and other stuff.

South Korea and Japan, unlike Australia, wouldn't need outside assistance to build a pretty good SSN because their diesel-electric subs are already quite good and they do have domestic nuclear power industries.

Heck, South Korea beat out Russia, France, and a German-Turkish consortium for a contract to build submarines for Indonesia.

Brazil has a slow-going SSN program(since the 1970s) going on. Right now, the prototype for the SSN reactor is being designed, and the SSN is expected to enter service around 2034(God only knows if it'll be able to meet this deadline).

Sure, they could do it but even so, it’s a bit more complicated than just swapping out a diesel-electric plant for a reactor. That said, I’d think they’re far more likely to just turn around anyway; it’s mainly spitballing on possibilities.

Agreed, but the two biggest challenges aren't those involved with making nuclear steam plant to replace a diesel generator. They're:

1) Making the damn thing fit in a submarine's pressure hull. That's effectively shoving 10lbs of shit into a 2lb bag.

2) Making it quiet enough that "hearing protection is required beyond this point" warning signs aren't necessary.

EDIT: These requirements are at odds with each other. Small high specific output powerplants tend to be very loud (see: any gas turbine or F1 engine ever) and quiet poweplants tend to be quite large for the amount of power they deliver (see: old-school Dutch windmills).

Biden honeymoon's over.
One can only hope that enough of his legitimate supporters are disillusioned with him that that his more fictitious ones won't be enough to give him a second term; though, if the establishment was smart, they wouldn't let him run again anyways. No; if they were smart, they'd use him as a scapegoat and declare him to be a false prophet that must be replaced with the next "chosen one", and thus continue the endless cycle.
