What If? Belisarius Cawl invents an FTL not reliant on the Warp?

So basically assume Cawl invents an ftl method similar to SW ftl and that depending on galactic areas, there will be different velocities but generally assume that a trip from one end of the galaxy to the other will take at maximum two years.

And assume Cawl and Guilliman manage to neuter the Navigator houses while installing this new ftl on all imperial ships at a rate of 1 percent of all ships refitted per year.

How will this affect 40k?

Egad!

This would likely see the imminent downfall of Chaos. No breaches being torn open EVERY time a ship needs to travel. Less psykers (navigators) opening themselves to Chaos every time they guide a ship. May see a definite sanction against all psykers to eliminate even more warp exposure.

On the galactic front it may be even more important. Simply because it moves farther away from innovation being heresy.

Then there is the ramification that you no longer need the Golden Light of Terra to guide your Navigators. Does this mean that all that energy the Emperor is using can instead go towards just healing himself?

Travel won't be held up simply b/c the warp hates you. It will actually be consistent and useful to commerce and the military in so many ways. It's a huge leg up against Chaos as they won't be able to screw up reinforcements the way they usually do.

Reliable, non-warp FTL travel would be huge bonus for the Imperium, but I don't think it would cause the downfall of Chaos, just like the Webway didn't, though it would give the humanity a chance to claw its way out of the abyss.

They would still be fucked, unless they come back from cargo cult to science. Not goin to happen, with Mechanicus.
Unless...Emprah could heal himself thanks to not powering Light beacon. Then he change Mechanicus and IoM could start winning.
