His character is canon though. So, why not lean into it and create some lore for him?

I forget the name, but Tex' Dr. Prof. Something Something was canonized through one of the kickstarters IIRC.

I mean, make for a nice garrison/support unit so long as it's still cheap. That's the thing about the Urbanmech; it's meant for guard duty, not for a lance on the offense. It's a cheap thing with a decent main gun and armor for gaurding something you'd rather deter someone else from attacking.

IIRC, its low speed is, doylistically, a case of "idiot proofing" for the maneuvering rules in the same book, making it unable to take a sharp corner turn fast enough to knock itself over.

that is kinda mean in a city fight with indirect fire. clan LRMs don't have a minimum range so underrunning the missiles isn't an option. only issue is lack of anti infantry when it is gonna be a city fighter. well and the 1082 BV and 2.4 million Cbill price tag.

You can swap the small lasers out for a flamer or two.

That hasn't been how turning on pavement works for a long time if ever. Safe cornering speed is determined by walk/cruise speed not any absolute threshold so it can go arse over teakettle making a 60 degree turn at a run that every other mech except the Annihilator would consider a perfectly safe walking speed.

What you actually want from an urban warfare mech is a jump of 4 or 5 and the ability to engage either at short range in an ambush or at medium to long range down long, straight grid plan or radial streets. So basically the same job as a line or cavalry trooper except that jumping is mandatory and short range firepower is a bit more strongly emphasized.

Which is pretty much an exact description of the Wyvern.
