So this is the thread that I decided to open up for any news coming out from the Balkan region, as we have no threads about it, until now. For the first one, I’m sure this is going to be something that’s been on the news.

Insane as well.

Same insanity was applied in 2020 when Montenegro had their elections, which was overshadowed by the whole drama involving the properties owned by the Serbian Orthodox Church and what Milo Djukanovic wanted to do with it.

Mainly, I was going to make this thread a Serbian news thread, but decided to expand it to the rest of the Balkans, as a sign of respect to the Balkan members in here.

Uhh no globohomo needs to fuck off. Are military should not be doing police duties to keep order for a government unpopular with the majority of locals. Besides Kosovo should belong to Serbia.

Also the region was historically Serbian.
Note I am not a Serb so I don't know everything about it. I just support the Serbs because they are Orthodox Christians facing off against Albanian Muslims.

Not sure which US overseas base is the largest now. Bondsteel or Humphreys in Pyongtaek, South Korea.

That being said, Kosovo is practically ground zero for all the tragic stuff that has happened since the 1389 Battle of Kosovo, to the Gazimestan Speech, to the Kosovo War.

Unfortunately, 90% of Kosovo's population are Albanian, and the fringe blokes still have the dream of Greater Albania. Although it is quite hilarious that the region of Sandzak is basically claimed by both Bosniak and Albanian irredentists.

Funny thing, Serbia and Kosovo were negotiating the exchange of Northern Kosovo (Serbian majority area) for Preševo and Podujevo valleys (Albanian majority area). State Department put a hard stop to that, people in Balkans are not allowed to solve their problems via compromise, hate must continue otherwise USA does not have the flames to feed.

Montenegro going full gun grab in response to the mass shooting in Serbia.

Montenegrin Interior Minister Filip Adzic on Monday called on citizens to hand in their weapons in the wake of last week's mass shootings in Serbia.

Have to say, it always amuses me when activists and legislators think aspiring mass-murderers itching to shoot up a bunch of people themselves would ever turn in their guns. If anything, it only proves the majority of people who surrender them are actually quite peaceful — or at the very least, aren't psychopaths out for blood (since their lot would never turn them in).

Never mind how tons of those guns will get mysteriously "lost" and wind up on the black market instead of destroyed by the authorities, so there's that. As I recall, that's pretty much what happened in countries that actually have implemented mandatory buybacks and confiscation, so I suspect that's how things will go in Montenegro, too.

It is already in chaos as it is. Also, 1999 was the closest thing that Russia and NATO had to getting into a shooting war over the incident at Pristina Airport.
