Attack on Titan: No, Eren definitely did something wrong

I wouldn't write Jean, Connie, Gabi, and the Liberio families off as dead just yet. They're only Titanized... and who knows what will become of Titans in general.

I'm calling it that, one way or another, all Titan powers will be nullified next chapter, reverting all Pure Titans and lifting the Curse of Ymir from all Titan Shifters. Possibly, and preferably IMO, as a result of Reiner killing the Worm creature.

Regarding the new episode, I'd have preferred that they focus on Gabi's reaction a bit more, but otherwise an excellent adaptation of one of my favorite scenes in the series.

And it will be very interesting to see how many anime-onlys remember this scene during upcoming events.

On one hand, the Levi-Zeke rematch was pretty underwhelming... but OTOH, the EMA conversation and Zeke backstory were both masterful.

Very much looking forward to seeing anime-onlys' reactions to the latter. And the ending, obviously. It certainly lit the fandom on fire when it happened in the manga.

I disagree. It shows the continual technological innovation of Paradis while also emphasizing the approaching end of the dominance of the Titans.

Last chapter had me cursing a lot.

*sigh*

Oh look, it's the stupid Code Geass plan all over again! "I shall become a heniously evil mass murder, a villain, that everyone will unite to take down. Thus, when I die, there shall be a world of peace!" goodness gracious stop using this idiotic plan people.

"80% of humanity was killed during the rumbling" goodness gracious fuck you

"She waited 2000 years for someone to free her from the pain of love" what

Are they really talking about "who is going to marry Mikasa" now of all times?

"I wanted to turn the earth into a brand new land" dude, the weight of the colossal titans has hard packed the earth so much that it can never be tilled by plows! It would take explosives and heavy machinery to excavate and unpack and loosen the dirt! Nothing will grow outside of the 20% of the world that was untouched again. It will take hundreds to thousands of years for erosion to loosen the soil and allow life outside of the 20% zone to thrive again!

What the fuck? "Thank you?" No! Fuck him!

Well, it's nice that Connie and Jean lived. But the 8 year/12 year terminal curse being magicked away just like that... I dunno.

Why is Mikasa walking away? The whole stretch of the Marleyan peninsula/continent towards Paradis is a barren wasteland without anything to eat, and any vehicles to cross the ocean to Paradis have been destroyed. She needs to stick with the group here at the Marleyan base and head further south to find another harbor, or to fix the plane.

I don't know. Meh, I guess?

I stand by my statement in 2017 that I feel that I began losing interest after chapter 100 when he went full blown mass murderer and the series became very nihilistic. I had overall liked the series up until that point. But everything after...

also, once again Japan is back at it again with the victimization of evil. Mass murderers are never held to account for their deeds. The story has to bend over backwards about how "misunderstood" or how "noble" they really were and how tragic their life was. Really grates me.

The whole stuff is a shitshow, and I'm glad I stopped reading that series around the time the fur-titan appeared for the first time.

To be fair, the aftermath of World War 2 kinda ingrained certain things into the Japanese collective consciousness; and one of those is forgiving even the worst evils, because that's what America did for Japan.

Hm. Never heard that before. Any other media where that shines through?

It's mostly subtext, and not really something that's ever discussed directly (or even something most Japanese creators are aware of consciously), but pretty much any story from Japan where the villain ends up forgiven no matter what they've done is rooted in it. One of the earliest examples of this I can think of off the top of my head is Dragon Ball Z; characters like Vegeta and Majin Buu are poster boys for villain redemption, but there are countless others I could name.
