Lumping in Oriental dragons with Western ones kind of bugs me. Honestly we shouldn't class them both as Dragons at all, they have no similarities beyond being large and scaly. Different body types, temperaments, functions in mythology, power sets, etc. Calling them all dragons always felt lazy to me, if they existed in real life nobody would presume they were closely related.

I feel the same way about people lumping Jiangshi in with Vampires (rigid corpses that have to move by hopping, don't drink blood, and have a whole different set of vulnerabilities revolving around chickens and holding your breath).
I strongly agree with your position.

Eastern mythology is completely different than western mythology, so therefor the two should be judged independently of one another.

Also, you can repel a Jiangshi with glutinous rice and mirrors. If one start chasing you, drop pennies to slow it down, as it will stop to count the coins.
It's why I still have a small sack of pennies despite them not being worth anything in Canada.
You never know when you might need to fight a Jiangshi.

it depends on whose writing the story. People take symbology way too literal sometimes and end up worshiping the created as opposed to the Creator.
