Say, were there ever relations between the Roman Empire and China and/or Japan?

Because somehow that sounds interesting

The Chinese sent an emissary who entered Roman territory but he never figured out how to get an audience and returned home from Syria.

Mexico actually tried that at the end of the Mexican War, and to this day there are political parties in the Yucatan who seek to be annexed to the US. John Quincy Adams' last filibuster was over the issue in fact, as there was a fear that any Mexican states admitted to the Union would bolster the slave states political clout and put off emancipation even further.

Huh. Assuming that a modern attempt, say around Obama's presidency, went through, what would that look like?
I can imagine the Mexican gouverment will send their army in to suppress the uppity state.

The Mexican army can't Dupree's the cartels. I seriously doubt they'd be able to suppress an insurgency.

Look at Chiapas for an example of how 'effective' Mexican counter-insurgency would be (hint, not very)
Sure, but that wouldn't prevent the politicans from sending the army in anyway. The response of the USA might be more important, but considering the PR of kicking out the mexican army from their soil, even if the citizens there voted for joining the USA, is very bad...

This would have been (in the given scenario) under Obama. Anything he did, the MSM would cheerlead as being brilliant and worthy of his Nobel Peace Prize. Because Obama. Of course, the instant somebody not a Dem took over, if they continue the policy they are warmongering colonialists oppressing the poor oppressed brown people, or if they seek to reverse it they are racist bigots seeking to undo the legacy of the Greatest President Ever.

I'm not sure how they would... oh wait, Middle East.

And we would have MORE spots for the illegals and narcs to flood in. Overall, it could even change the result of the 2016 election.
That would cause its own problems as the GOP would be entirely justified in accusing the left of cheating or whatever the word for this situation would be.
You might be surprised the Yucatan is a giant jungle. Harder to cross than the desert. I'd imagine your right though. Got to keep my imperialism boner under control. o_O

A less Realistic Alternate History Idea

What If? Human Lifespans were immortal-unless-killed, something along the lines of, upon reaching physical maturity, our bodily functions DO NOT break down slowly unless we get infected by disease or viruses

Think of it like being like the Mer/Elves from Elder Scrolls who reach maturity nearly the same age as humans right before the ageing process slowing down till they only look and feel old after 4 centuries, except they remain at their physical peak(well unless they forget to exercise and eat healthy)forever

The only ways to get old would be extreme physical and/or mental stress and illness rotting the body, like how people in their twenties could look way older due to poorer health and living conditions

Would population growth and technological advancements slowed down significantly if we had lifespans like that?

Also, imagine meeting your grandparents and they look your age or only slightly older than you

Like the movie “In Time”

Hey Mr Aussie. Did you guy's natives ever have strong rebellious tribes. Ala the Apache over here?

Not really. The various Aboriginal tribes were at a lower state of societal/tech development than the North American tribes and lacked any agriculture so relied on hunter gathering and were extremely vulnerable to territory loss. This meant their numbers were smaller to begin with especially in the arid inner regions and then the diseases arrived and the settlers and farmers with weapons 200 years more advanced than what the Iroqious and such had to deal with when Europeans arrived there. Aboriginals basically got a crash course in the condensed space of 100 years of what happens when a stone age culture with no disease resistance meets an early industrial revolution civilisation with infectious diseases to spare. The Aboriginals weren't pansies (for instance the Maoris never settled in Australia for some reason) but they didn't really stand a chance.
