Honestly, it would make it not a reboot so much as a...reimagining and perspective-shift, but a classical antiquity warfare movie, stylized nonsense like 300 or more 'Troy' or 'Alexander the Great', style centering about the Amazons would seem a legitimately good opportunity for a movie.
Lots of opportunity for an eye-rolling groan-fest, as well...But a good opportunity nonetheless.

Platoon actually floats between the previous unserious suggestions and a semi-serious one. Fiddle with what war is portrayed--even set it in the future, even--and there's the opportunity for a good movie in that. Reestablish and perhaps amplify some of the shock-factor horribleness and all that 'inhumanity to other man' hat, but the baseline good and evil theme wouldn't be impacted by gender and a good director could take the opportunity to do some interesting/horrifying stuff confronting issues of women in the armed forces.
